hi everyone, its been a while I might be grasping at straws here, but I had a dull pop that would only pop occasionally. I searched for weeks, but I finally discovered I had a broken motor mount. This was in an older CJ5 with a V8, so I don't how it will apply to yours.

Hey, try the hinges off of an old, big satilite dish. Most are fairly heavy guage steel and they are greasable. Hell, you can probably find someone who just wants you to take it down and haul it a way. Make the mounting hinge into the tire carrier and the dish into a gazeebo for your wife.

I cut off the rear frame cross member and replaced it with 3 inch square stock for a solid mount for tire carrier and such. I also cut out the rear body pannel of my 78 CJ5, welded up a frame and drop down tale gate, and bolted it it. So far, all have worked well.

There is a little plastic cover on the passenger side of the carb. Loosen the screws that hold down the metal retainer and you twist the cover back or forward depending on if you want it to be more open or more closed. There should be little marks on the cap to indicate more or less. I got sick...

It's a fairly do-able. With some new parts and basic tools you can do it yourself; if I have done all that crap, anyone can. It's part of owning a Jeep. I usually keep a few parts like that around cuz they're always in need if replacing. Anyway it's a labor of love thing and it's quality time...

I've had that carb on my 78 CJ5 since I got it. It's worked well and is easy to rebuild - the rebuild kit is expensive, well for me anyway 29 bucks. There's no emission tests in NM, so can't help you there

Where to find lift kits? Hang in there buddy. Good thing come to thoes who wait; it took me a bit more than a year and a half to get mine back togther after taking it all apart. Give it some time and do it right - you'll be back on the trails.
