what is a tub...a frame? They have it priced at 3900, but that's always negotiable...we've bought from the place before. Could probably get it for 3200 or so.

Lol, maybe I could cover the damage with a bumper sticker and no one would notice...except for the wobbly wheel. Then I could just make sure I'm always on someone's left side so they don't see that, and so they don't get hit when it breaks and flies off:D

Thanks for the input. It doesn't sound too daunting *crosses fingers*, mainly I was worried that the back side wasn't replaceable. Here's another pic...does the wheel look tweaked at all? I'm not sure, but I do know the fender flare isn't all the way attached so it might be the reason it looks...

Found this at a repairable place...think it could be fixed...what would it need? :?| It's at a very good price so it might be worth fixing if it's possible.

What does TCM and PCM stand for :P I'm used to TCU and ECU...is the PCM the engine computer? ...probably safe to assume TCM is the transmission computer.

No bigger tires, just looking at a 98 with the auto and wanted to get a bit better mileage on the highway, so I figured putting in another auto with OD would be nice. Which ones will bolt up and are good transmissions...would I just need to shifter, transmission and TCM then?

What would be needed to swap the original auto transmission from a 98 TJ to a 4-speed...say from a newer TJ or a cherokee? Other than that, any way to improve gas mileage on the highway...gear switch?

One more :) Does the 98 TJ have an open differential, or limited slip? An open diff. allows the slipping wheels to continue spinning because the power is to them correct?

Thanks everyone...good heads up on buying from a dealership. It's safe to assume usually there are some things they don't admit are wrong, but if it runs wells and I get a written guarantee for 30-90 days or something I'm fine with a leak etc. That can be fixed :) nothing compared to my car...

I've been looking at getting a Wrangler TJ for a while, and have found one I think is a good price and a good Jeep. I was wondering how people felt here about using their carfax or other subscription to look up a VIN for a new buyer...? The vehicle has pretty low miles, and I'm just curious...
