    For the electrical experts...Christmas Lights

Hi, I got some pictures of the x-mas lights on my Wrangler tonight. I was impressed that my digital camera did better in the dark than I though it would (though, it made all of the pics have an exaggerated reddish tone.) (Click to enlarge): As a note, I put tin foil behind the 6 lights on...

    For the electrical experts...Christmas Lights

Hi, Where's your sense of adventure? Playing with electricity is FUN, I promise :P The only downside to most car inverters is they: 1) need to be INSIDE the Jeep so they don't get wet 2) Have fans and are thus noisy 3) much less efficient than going direct to 12 volts DC. Basically, there are...

    Pulsing lights... what's wrong???

Hi, I still don't think this is a computer problem. Unfortionately, without being there to see your wiring setup, it is hard to say what part of your wiring is causing the problem. Somewhat Ironically, my Wrangler's alternator has decided it will no longer produce voltage above 13.5 volts --...

    Swing out tire carrier

Hi, My '88 has the factory tire swing mount. Sometimes, I like it (gets the spare tire outside which is good), but sometimes I hate it. I agree with the previous comments about the tire swing being very noisy (and Yes, I have tried PB Blaster on it). There is nothing quite like the sound mine...

    Blowing switches, fuses

Hi, I believe the '94 cherokees use the same headlamp switch as my '88 does. The dash dimmer switch and headlamp/parking lamp switch is the same unit. I'd guess either all the replacement switches that were sold to you were junk (possible), or you have an intermitten short circuit in the wiring...

    For the electrical experts...Christmas Lights

Hi, I finally got around to drawing up a nice connection picture + schematic for using christmas lights in your Jeep . I make mine out of 6-lamp strings of old/non-working light sets which I cut up. I wire them as shown below. Note that if you wire the lights this way you can use as many...

    Pulsing lights... what's wrong???

Thank you, Saurian! Incase you (or anyone who doesn't read the General Chat forum) missed it, I did start a thread about my Jeep EV conversion a little while back. I think it is now on the second page of that forum. Ok, here is the link...

    extended cranking time

Hi, I think MudderChuck's talk about the fuel system pressure is definately worth looking into. If the fuel system is not holding pressure after the engine is shut off, that means that at every start you have to wait for pressure to rebuild in the fuel rail, which results in a delayed start...

    For the electrical experts...Christmas Lights

Hi, You are right. Regular mini lights are wired in SERIES. That is, in a normal set of 100 mini christmas lights, you have 50 lights with a voltage drop of about 2.4 volts each. Thus, 2.4v * 50 lights = 120 volts, which is normal household voltage, so the lamps work without being blown up...

    Pulsing lights... what's wrong???

Hi, It is likely that you can safely do this. Do you know how much current your coil pulls? I'm guessing it is less than 30 amps. If you can find out for sure, and if it is a lot less than 30A, use a smaller fuse which matches it better. Be sure that if it truly needs 30 amps you use a relay...

    Pulsing lights... what's wrong???

motorcraft carb help Hi, LOL. That's good to hear. Yes I do. Though, at the time I'm not sure anyone else picked up on it. I've been driving the Cherokee as an EV for awhile now. But I wanted to wait until the right time to present it to my fellow Jeepers. Ironically...

    Holiday Wish list

Hi, For the Cherokee: A new set of tires (hopefully LLR tires), and a Zilla 1K controller would be really cool. For the Wrangler: A new radio head unit with an aux. input (so I can ditch the FM transmitter that I've been using with my MP3 player). -Nick :!:

    full power, no start

Hi, Do the lights dim and the voltmeter drop when you attempt to start it? A frozen starter would pull a LOT of current from the electrical system when you apply power to it, so I'd image you'd have dimming lights. Don't power a frozen starter motor for more than a few seconds, as all that...

    Pulsing lights... what's wrong???

Hi, The problem is that many car audio amplifiers are so inefficient, and thus pull more power than necessary from the 12 volt system. Also, the public has caught on well to buying amplifiers based on how much power they consume, instead of how much they amplify sound. What I mean is that...

    Pulsing lights... what's wrong???

Hi, Three possibilities: Bad Alternator, Bad Battery, or too much electrical load for your current battery/alternator setup. I think we can safely rule out the latter as from your description you did not have too much turned on. We might also be able to rule out #2, as you said the battery is...

    Brake Warning Light reset

RE: sick people in the world Hi, I too have heard that you only need to bleed the part of the brake system which was opened up. However, I've found that it is still a very good idea to bleed the ENTIRE system, to be sure all air is out. I've never had good luck bleeding just part of the...

    no spark?

Hi, If you are talking about the electrical device INSIDE the distributor (under the rotor), that is the Camshaft position sensor. (Not to be confused with the Crankshaft Position Sensor). This sensor has 3-4 wires in a flat harness. I'm not sure that this could cause a lack of spark. If you...

    Jeepz.com Poll

Hi, hmmm... my Jeep wouldn't fit into that category very well now would it? Or is that why you have "other" in that list? -Nick :!:
