    Lots of body work

Before you go deep into this thing, step back. Gas prices have dropped the price of jeeps dramatically. Jeeps aren't exactly the most fuel efficient vehicles. I've never seen prices this low for decent jeeps. You're facing $3,000 in body work and more in suspension and engine. Take a look at...

    1973 Jeep Cj5 $500

Um, get those brakes fixed. that's kinda important. Unless you use the "run into the Prius in front of you" braking method. ;-)

    new ox l,ocker noise

I got the jeep back. Everything is now done and I'm back on the road. Unless I get really brutal, this current setup should last another 10 years.

    1973 Jeep Cj5 $500

I guessed right about the suspension. Why not just go for a skyjacker system? Get a kit and do the whole thing. It's better than gambling which one of those old parts is going to break on the trail first.

    Best replacement top

I've been looking at 4wd.com for replacement tops. There are a number of cheaper tops available. I'd like to save a few bucks. Does anyone have any experience with the cheaper replacement tops? What have you heard of these?

    Brake master cylinder upgrade

Will a master cylinder from a '78 Grand Marquis just bolt on, or will there be a need for an adapter or re-engineering?

    Brake master cylinder upgrade

I just swapped out the drum brakes on the rear with a disc brake conversion kit. It looks like it's working normally, but I've heard I may have to replace the master cyclinder with a larger one to handle the extra load. Any comments or suggestions? 1997 Jeep TJ SE 2.5 eng :???:

    new ox l,ocker noise

Re: new ox locker noise I shopped around, $800 was the going rate. It's mountain climbing season and I need my jeep as soon as possible.

    Death wobble!!!!

I know this sounds stupid, but check the air pressure on your tires. If they're under inflated, they'll start to deform at higher speeds. This is a known killer because it weakens the steel belts and can cause complete failure. It's not unusual for jeepers to drop the air pressure in their...

    starter removal problems

More brute force. Since you're getting rid of this starter, break the damn thing. ;-)

    1973 Jeep Cj5 $500

I figure count on the worse for all the suspension parts. $500 means you'll probably have to do an overhaul. Get ready to do some work. Think of it as a starting point for a project jeep. The good news is this vehicle is highly rebuildable. Using places quaratec.com and 4wd.com, you can get...

    new ox l,ocker noise

I took the jeep into the pros to have the carrier set. They say for $800 they'll get it all setup. I figure it's worth because the original repair estimate for my broken axle was $3700. and that was just to replace the original parts. I gutted the entire thing and put in 30 spline axles, a...

    new ox l,ocker noise

noise goes away when power is withdrawn. Initially, there was no noise at all. then after 10 minutes of driving the noise began and started to inccrease. I suspect there was a little shifting of the setup after power was applied and I need to pull the locker and add more shims. As another...

    ox locker snap ring

I have a new ox locker and I need to remove it for maintenance. However, the snap ring was had enough to remove when the locker was dry. Now that it's covered in oil, I can't get it out. I've tried snap ring pliers and need nose pliers ground down to shape. nothing works. What do you use...

    new ox l,ocker noise

I have just installed a new OX locker in my Jeep TJ. It's making a loud whining noise. Nothing is going wrong, and there is no clicking sound, but I just wanted to know if I should expect a louder noise from the rear end now that I've installed a locker. I also installed 30 spline axles...
