:agree: Ran them for a while on both our TJ and YJ - great traction on wet/snowy roads and decent off-road, too. Ours didn't really wear out that fast.

Is it throwing any codes? (CEL?) I know when the O2 sensors went bad on my little 4banger (03), gas mileage went WAY down and felt a definite loss of power. Might be something to check.

Wasn't in the '03's.....mine is 5 speed with 410's from the factory.

Not sure about the 6 speeds, but my stock '03 came with 410's......works just fine with 31's. If I were going to regear, I'd probably go to 538's but that would mean a lift, bigger tires, beefier axles, etc, etc........why I've stuck to the stock setup.

I have an '03 with the 2.4.......wife had a '94 YJ with the 2.5. In my humble opinion, the 2.5 kicked 2.4's arse both in power and torque. 2.4 might get a little better mileage but it's negligible. 2.5 would probably be easier to find, also. my 2 cents.

And if you have the 4 banger, what's the problem???? I've got an '03 with the 4 banger and can't remember the last time I put it in 5th......or even why I did it. Don't know why Jeep put a 5th in the transmission.

Had the flashing CEL a few years back on the way home from visiting family in Ohio. I was panicking but had to get home.....running like crap - horrible mileage - thinking I'm destroying my Jeep. Got it home and it turns out it was just a bad spark plug (4 banger - 3 out of 4 ain't good!!)...
