    how old is everyone

NCAA Tournament Well it looks like I'm the ól fart here. And old farts like to tell storys. I'm 47 going on 18. I got my first 4x4 in 1977 when I was 20 & had just got married. It was a 72 CJ-5 stock six banger. You young guys probly never heard or have seen the show called "Rat Patrol" but it...

    Compromised or specialized?

Quadra trac Limited slip housing AMC model 20 You guys have some great input. I've enjoyed your posts. Don't get me wrong in all honesty I didn't buy this Jeep to make it a show car as I've never been one to have a vehical that was to nice to drive but this 77 Jeep is next to new condition. I...

Where are people going for Spring Break

I'm going to the dunes in Oklahoma with our local 4x4 club. I've posted in the EVENTS forum a link to this state park which is a fantastic place to play. 1500 acers of trails & dunes as high as 75' tall! Sand drags & hill climbs going on all the time with quads, sand rails, 4x4s etc. I wouldn't...

    More project pics

Looks great! Reconstruction can be very time & funds consuming but the payoff is worth it once it's finished. You can take pride in what you've built. I hope you keep us posted on the progress.

    Compromised or specialized?

That's exactly what I'm thinking. Build "Ol' Rusty" for the real nasty stuff where you get dinged, dented, scratched, & trashed like rock climbing, narrow trails with trees, etc. Save my freshly painted, never been thrashed "Virgin Lady" from the harsh stuff & enjoy it on the street, open...

    Compromised or specialized?

I've found over the years of offroading you can build your vehicals for a specific type of off roading or you can build a compromised rig for all types. I have a opportunity to purchase another CJ-7 for $2500. It has a fair amount of rust in the usual places. Has the stock 304, stick. 35" tires...

    Avenger Carb. or Fuel Inj?

Thanks Redrooster for the great link. I'll be busy reading this very helpfull information. Sorry if this was a question commonly asked. I'm simply another newby on the board trying to get educated.

    Avenger Carb. or Fuel Inj?

I've read some great reviews on the Avenger carb. on it's ability to function properly at extreme angles. One person reported his Jeep's engine continued to run smoothly even after it rolled on it's side!

    Avenger Carb. or Fuel Inj?

Nothing good comes cheap The fuel systems I'm looking for my 304; Howell Injection conv. is $1260 & $70 more for the K&N filter assembly. Holley Pro-Jection EFI Conv. $800 The Avenger 670cfm is $410 & Edelbrock manifold $186

    Avenger Carb. or Fuel Inj?

What improvements does this kit make to the original carb? I'm wanting better performance for steep hills & angles.

    Avenger Carb. or Fuel Inj?

Í'm interested in a hi incline carb like the Holley Truck Avenger to replace the stock Motorcraft for my 77 304 CJ-7. Are there any others I should consider instead? Or should I just opt for the fuel injection? What manifold would be a good choice? I run sand dunes that get pretty steep.

    My 2.5 Jeep CJ8 T-Maxx

All my RC trucks are powered by strong electric motors simular to cordless drills etc. so I have no experience with the nitro powered ones. Shutting off the fuel or air would be my guess on how you'd turn it off. You may have weak batteries in the receiver of your truck or in the radio...

    My 2.5 Jeep CJ8 T-Maxx

We have a BMX track here that is perfect for the E-Maxx. There is always some kids there that love to help out & put it back on it's wheels after a good crash & burn. These trucks really jump well once you learn how but everyone pushes them beyond their design limit. Stock steering servos are...

    Quadra-trac/gear reduction seal

Thanks again Jay for pointing out the typo error. I've only a few things to do to lighten up the CJ such as changeout the tops, remove the spare carrier, remove back seat, etc. before I load up for the trip. I don't have the best tires for duning so I'm going to remove as much weight as...

    Quadra-trac/reduction seal

I posted this question in another forum & got my question answered. There is no seal between the units and lube flows freely between them. Fluid height is checked at the transfer case.

    Quadra-trac/gear reduction seal

Thanks Jay! I was worried I had a problem there that was going to need attention right away. There is a 4x4 Jambore coming up at the end of March at Lil'Sahara State Park, Waynoka, Oklahoma that I'm planning on attending so I am trying to get my CJ dune ready. :)

    Quadra-trac/reduction seal

I topped off the fluid in my reduction unit then proceeded to check the level on the Quadra-trac & had fluid pour out rapidly. I'm assuming the seal between the units is toast allowing fluid to drain into the tranfercase. My question is can I run it this way with the fluid high in the Q. Trac...

    Quadra-trac/gear reduction seal

I topped off the fluid level in my gear reduction unit today & found it took approx. 2.5 quarts to fill it which is what the manual says it holds. I then proceeded to remove the fill plug on the Quadra-trac only to have fluid come rushing out. I'm assuming the seal between the reduction unit &...

    Automatic Hubs?

I once had a 69 Commando with automatic lock-in hubs. You could manually lock them in or put them in auto and they'd lock in by them selves when the transfer case was shifted into 4 wheel drive. These were extremely nice to have & I'd like to purchase some for my CJ but I've not seen these...
