OK, GOOD. Phew! I kinda like that new grille. Kiiiinda like a CJ's with the parking lights below the headlights like that. I just wish it was taller . . . and then fenders were less Hummer-like.

This may be old news, but what was the final verdict on solid axle vs. IFS?

    '85 CJ7 6 Backfires on downhill idle

Could be a million things bud. Check vacuum leaks first, then clean and tune that carb real good. Make sure everything on the outside of the carb is in good shape too, the choke and throttle linkage is all in good order and lubed. While you're in there, maybe check the plugs, wires, and other...

Did you run through any puddles that might have submerged your diff while that line was disconnected? Just a guess . . .

    Jeep caving...

Yeah, didn't work for me either. I think your link is wrong. It redirects me to http.com. Shoot, I'd never get lost in a cave . . . I would just follow the trail of light blue paint along the cieling and walls back to the entrance!

Rofl Red. That thing is our beachmobile. We take it to the beach because we just don't care about it anymore. I had to drive it to school for most of my Junior year in high school, we all called it the "Shaggin' Wagon."

    Inspired by Sparky

Alright, Sparky's thread inspired me to ask my own questions. I just recently rebuilt the carburetor and finally got my throttle linkage right so I could open this carb wide open and the gain I experienced was amazing. I was able to burn my tires on dry pavement for probably a good 3-4 seconds...

    YJ Power Fading Away

Just run the thing as dry as you can get it before dropping the tank, they can be heavy. Not too sure how yours is set up, but here's how I did mine. Take off filler hoses, put a few jacks under it, unbolt the skidplate, lower it a tiny bit, undo wires and fuel lines, and then lower it to the...

There is one body mount underneath the passenger floor board that is rusted out, but I'm not too worried about it. I jurry rigged it the best I could with some big washers. Should I be more worried about a broken body mount?

All springs were definitely stock springs and the front springs are definitely new. I did run it a little while without shocks until I could afford some, but it sat like that without the shocks as well.

Yeah, I thought the same thing because look at those shackles. See how they're pointed out a little bit. And no, those are definitely the front springs. The front springs are skinnier than the rear ones and will not fit in the rear hangers and vice versa.

    Bucking Bronco in 1st

Probably gonna need some more info than that bud. What happens as RPM's increase? Does it make any noises? What exactly do you mean by "bucking like a bronco?" Is the stick jerking back and forth?

    What is this??

Leave the ballast resistor in there until you do the HEI upgrade. It's there for a reason and should not be bypassed.

Alright, thanks a lot guys. I'm gonna start my search for some old CJ spring packs then. Thanks again.

Alright, I don't have the old springpacks anymore but I'll see if any of the guys in the local club here have any. But, if I can't find any, Should I be worried about 1.25" or 1.5" lift shackles?

Add-a-leafs are gonna stiffen it up quite a bit, won't they?

Well, it's an extremely old Ramesey 8000 lb winch, sooo, do you think it's a little heavier than y'all are used to? Ummm, front springs are skinnier and that's about it. Yeah, once I get the cash and time, I was thinking about buying 4 of those spring over springs from RE for $150 a pop. They...

I finally got my new tires offroad yesterday and was very pleased with their performance, but they rubbed, mostly just while I was going downhill. I thought that 31's were supposed to fit very nicely on a CJ. Since I put the new suspension on (brought it back up to stock height with springs from...
