Long time no see... HELP :(

I think only CA has to have a sticker off the assembly line. I know we don't in CT. Don't forget CA has a lot of special restrictions. Can't you just have it inspected? If we bring a car in from out of state it needs a VIN & exauhst sampling for an emissions sticker for CT if it's between 4 and...

    windshield - self or shop?

The YJs are cheaper than TJ windshields. Mine was 128.00 a few years ago put in buy Safelite AutoGlass. They are a chain and you get a "lifetime guarantee" so why do it yourself

    Rear main seal

This looks promising... I don't think there's anyway to do it w/o pulling the transmission/t-box back. I'm changing the seal on the Willys when I pull the transmission/t-box and install the used set I just bought. It's always worth it to me to change the clutch even if it hasn't been there long...

    Rear main seal

Are you sure it's not the valve cover because just about all of them leak especially if its pouring out. Both my YJ and my wifes ZJ leaked the same way. My wife's was smoking up a storm because it was running onto the crossover pipe. Both were 4.0s. Both cases the rear screws on the valve cover...

    Battery question

FIRST thing I've found (if the battery isn't too old) are dirty battery connections. 1/2" wrench to loosen (+) & (-) connections and a thin knife to clean the inside of the connection clamps. Then wire brush the trminals. Check for a loose belt that could be slipping (real PITA to tighten on...

jacking up a yj high enough for SOA install

Read my post about the floor jacks. You don't need to lift them, or jack your Jeep as high, and you'll be able to move them around much easier, up, down or adjust each end as you need to. How will you do the fine adjusting of the axle with wheels on? I guess I don't understand why you asked for...

    Locker in Dana 35

The 8.8 is a better idea but I think they come with 3.70s and 4.10s so you'd need to change the front out. The guys in our club are finding them for about $250 to $300 and I think they come with ltd slip installed.

    Rear disc brakes

The other thing is, I don't think you can make that conversion on a "c - clip" axle. If you could It looks like more work and money..................what did we used to call that, "putting perfume on a pig".

    hey everyone!

More like 30" on YJs but you'll probably just rub more with 31s. I had 31s but I also had a 2-1/2 Skyjacker lift. Take your time and research, ask questions and watch you'll get a feel for what you need w/o spending too much for something you'll take off in 6 months. Keep an eye out for...

    307 gears with a dana 44 on a tj?

Right on the tag it will tell you if it's a 35 or a 44 and the ratio. I lost my tags when I changed my gears but they were there. Also on the casting beond the edge of the cover D44 will be cast somewhere. http://www.off-road.com/jeep/tech/axle/d44.html

jacking up a yj high enough for SOA install

Bryan, I used 2 floor jacks and 2 people (my son) to horse the axles around w/o tires. The floor jacks (2-3/4 ton) are from Costco ($80.) or Harbor Frieght. The Jack stands, long 3 ton jobs (4) for 4 points under the frame, I also got from Harbor Frieght ($29. per pair). On a cement floor you'll...

    Rear disc brakes

When you get done swaping spring purches and posibly gears you still have an unreliable D35 axle. 95+ Explorer 8.8 is a much better swap and not too expensive. Take a look at this post from our club: http://www.ctjeep.org/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=3399&highlight=8

    height of YJ after lift?

If that's all your worried about you probably will. Just park you Jeep under the door and measure to see if you have 6". That will be your minmum. Sometimes I brought mine in to work on it but I had to deflate the tires and lower the top.
