The FSM says to unbolt the motor mounts, exhaust bolts at the collector and the starter.
My personal experience proved that you only have to remove the starter and jack up the frame until you obtain enough clearance to remove the pan.

I notice that on their site that the receiver hitch is for towing, but they don't say what it is rated at. I have been looking for the same thing in a rear bumper. Can't beat the price.

When he said that he fell 30 feet, he meant that he fell 30 feet from from his last protection. Not 30 feet to the ground. The rope takes up a lot of the energy so the stop isn't that sudden.
Sounds like when the fuel tank was reinstalled, a wire was pinched and is grounding out on the fuel tank.
I would trace the wires from the tail lights forward and try to locate the grounded wire.
I do believe that once a code is thrown, it takes a certain amount of "key on/off cycles" before the code disappears or you have to take it to a shop to have the code deleted from the module. It's one or the other. Can't remember for your year.
