To 4 wheel or not to 4 wheel...

IMO you's only need to make mods based on your use. If it works well stock and the looks work for you- leave it stock. If you have a need/want for a mod - go for it.

    Sound System

I went thru Crutchfield.com. to install a new radio/gps/back up camera in my wife's corolla. I bought a kit specific to her car which made the new unit look factory. Price wasn't bad either.

Leaking blue rubber gasket on oil pan

I used to have a cherokee that the oil pan bolts didn't like to stay tight so I'd check/snug them up with each oil change.

    Abs

Might be the speed sensor. About a yr or so ago I had to the change the rear speed sensors on my 2010 JK. I goofed and replaced the wrong one so ended up doing both. The better code readers will give you that info. The bad one was especially noticeable on slow turns under acceleration.

New to the Group and Looking for advice!

I was also 43 when I bought my first jeep 1990 XJ. My current jeep is a 2010 JK. I never owned a 4x4 until I bought mountain property that requires 4x4 to get in/out when there is snow on the ground. I bought my first jeep because my wife had trouble getting in and driving my full size bronco...

2005 TJ Slips Out Of Gear

24 yrs ago I bought a 7 yr old jeep cherokee. I had it about 6 months and there was a brake rotor recall at which time the service dept found an unrepaired transmission cable recall which they also did - all free of charge. While some recalls have time limits, it's always worth checking into.

    Animal in your vehicle

If I got in a vehicle to find a 6' snake - the driver's seat might need cleaning. Back in the 70s I read in the Tallahassee Democrat that a man went down to Miami over the weekend to buy and old car. Put a battery in it and drove it home. Got in it Monday morning to go to work and wrecked it -...

    Animal in your vehicle

I think dirt dobbers is the biggest issue of that type I've dealt with under the hood. When my youngest son was 16 he bought a 1972 Bronco. When I came home from work I noticed the hood was up but he was in the house. He raised the hood to find a big black snake curled up on the engine.

What did you do to your Jeep today?

While I've seen it before I've never understood how a diff cover can rust thru when it's coated with oil. Gear oil does have a distinctive odor.

    Wrangler bogging down

A plugged catalytic convertor can cause loss of power [not saying that is your cause] but it would be something else to check out. How many miles on your jeep?

Repainting my fenders on my rubicon.

scratches would need to be sanded out before painting as paint alone won't make them disappear

93 Sahara w/12v on the body, and each side of 3 fuses, WONT START and nothing works

How old is the battery? it should show close to 13 volts but the only way to know for sure is with a load tester. Most auto parts stores will test your battery for free if you have a way to get the battery to the store. Do you have a battery charger?

Mine was the bushings on each end of the 4 wheel drive cable [transfer case to shift lever] on my 2010 jk.

    Seat Covers

A lot depends on how much you want to spend. Quadratec has some nice ones tailored to specific models. When I bought my 2010 jk I bought some cheap covers at AutoZone that fit well. When they wore out I bought some nicer looking ones that don't fit all that great. When they wear out I'll either...

Rear drum brake repair on YJ

The self adjuster works when you back a vehicle up. I don't think the parking brake will do anything to the adjustment.

4WD shifter bushing falling off help

I just pressed it in with my fingers. The one under the jeep was more difficult - mainly because of the awkward position and working more by feel than sight.

4WD shifter bushing falling off help

If this is the one at the ends of the cable you probably don't have it completely seated. I had to replace them on my 2010 jk, it can be difficult to fully seat them but once on they don't come off until they break again.
