    transmission swap

Im pretty sure my transmission is on its last legs. Havent really had the chance to dive into it, just an educated guess at this point in time. My question is if I want ot upgrade to the ax15 what will be needed? will the bell housing and the transfer case match up or will they need to be changed.

    Chrome or no chrome?

I had the pipes for my wifes bike done in the black chrome quite a few years back (2005-2006?) cost me a FORTUNE and had a real hard time finding someone that could do it (maybe because it was still a fairly new process) That being said...she loved them, me?...not so much.

    Engine Swap

I saw one on fleabay with an old T-bird 390 in it, and I saw one not too far away from me that had an old dodge 400 in it. You can pput anything you want in anything you want with enough time, money, and work. There was a guy that ran a welding shop near where I grew up, he built a small block...

    My project

I think Im just going to buy the correct frame for the top. Now that I'm this far into it I figure I might as well do it right. It runs and drives safely now so I can take my time and not have to rig things up.

    My project

As for the shakles, I think they were done to get a little extra height in order to clear the ridiculously wide tires that were on it when it came to me. It really makes no diufference to me either way, and I dont really feel like messing with the suspension just yes...I'd like to get all the...

    My project

the tabs where the back bow is supposed to lock into the front piece are broken off so you have to keep it up with bungee cords, and the drivers side is missing the bar that goes to the windshield. When the jeep came to me there was no top with it so I just assumed that it was o.e style...

    My project

as it turns out the hardware is not only broken, its the wrong style for the top as stated in previous posts, so I guess I'll look for some new hardware sooner than later.

    My project

I havent l ooked at it much today, but I dont think I can adjust it...theres a bar that bolts from that to the windshield. I need to get the top off when it stops raining and get a good look at it. Pretty sure that the frame is too jacked up to really be able to do anything with it and I dont...

    My project

so here is where we stand, not really sure why there is such a gap on the top over the doors...pretty sure the frame for the soft top is going to need to be replaced sometime soon. Now it seems like its going to be nickle and dime stuff from here on out. All the major work is done.

    My project

So I have the Jeep almost at a point that could be considered some what finished. I am currently waiting for the front end parts, radiator, and wheels to come in and it will be ready to roll. After that everything is cosmetic (interior, audio, and lastly paint)...not counting the bill for...

    Help!

Unless you have the time and the ability to have a vehicle laid up for repairs I wouldn't bother. Why give up a running vehicle for something that quite possibly is going to need more work than you know about.

4.0 from xj into yj rio grande

I never said it was plug and play. It is the same amount of work that a v8 is yet everytime the topic comes up there are statements about why it would be a waste because you get more power out of a v8 and a 4.0 would be a hack job. The point I was trying to make is that if the person...

4.0 from xj into yj rio grande

If one can't install a 4.0 without hacking it up I would venture to say their install of a v8 would be equally hacked. Just my opinion

4.0 from xj into yj rio grande

It can be done with the time and effort...yes it is as much work as it would be to put in a v8 but the 4.0 was engineered for these vehicles. If and when something breaks you will save yourself time and aggrevation being able to walk into the parts store and get something right off the shelf...

    Question about rim offset

So what I got is offset is the measurement to the mounting point from the centerline of the wheel. Positive offset is to the outside of the wheel, negative offset is to the inside of the wheel (like a deep dish wheel). 24mm is translates to just under an inch so the mounting face would be just...

    Question about rim offset

When I got the jeep it had 35x15x15 tires on 15x12" inch wheels on it. The tires were destroyed and all over the road and I just plain didn't like the rims so I got rid of them. I finally found a set of rims I like, but I'm a little confused about the whole offset think. The rims are listed...
