    Warn hub issues

When I drive in 2wd my left lockout will rotate from "free" to "lock". I will hear a buzzing sound of the hub trying to engage. I will hear an occasional hard bang when it does engage and the slack in the front drivetrain gets taken up and the axle suddenly starts turning. I have searched the...

    detroit lockers

It depends on a few factors. Tire traction, condition of the locker, how much power being applied. There are times when mine will release and I do not hear it, and there are times when it releases with a bang.

    front brake drum removal

Matt post a good picture of the adjusting cam bolts on the backing plate so he can see them. Manually adjusted brakes are really old school and unless you're old or work on old stuff like me you'll never come across them. They don't even teach them in auto classes anymore. I would post a picture...

    diesel swap

Look on the right side of the engine compartment. Near where the Jeep starter was there should be two black heavy wires that share a common eyelet connector. These need to go to gnd. I have a Cummins 4bt in my 98 TJ, so our wiring harnesses are very similar due to the years. I had a similar...

    mattracks

Very pricey no matter what you put them on. Limited road speed. Awesome traction.

    what color

What is my take you ask. Well judging by your exhaust hanging down and your front driveshaft angle you have bigger issues to deal with than what color to paint it. lol Paint it like a zebra. Google search for Ted Nugent's Bronco.

    Bolt pattern confused

Yes, the full time 4wd and the 2wd 1/2 ton and lighter trucks had smaller spindle bearings so the hubs were smaller. It wasn't till the part time 4wd did they have to use the larger bearings and hubs to facilitate the lockouts.

Possibly a hand throttle for something like PTO use. Definitely not original to the Jeep.

Hard to find, but not impossible.

    1 ton axle flip?

I agree the t-case change is the simplest compared to most axle swaps. But there is one model of Ford front axle that is a "bolt in swap", if you can find the axle. 1978-1979 F250,F350 Snow Fighter pkg, or Camper Special pkg. This is a KP, HP, open knuckle, disc brake D60 and the spring perches...

    Bolt pattern confused

Ramcharger/Trailduster bolt patterns (BP) The 2wd and full time 4wd used a 5 on 4.5" BP. The part time 4wd (1980 on up) used a 5 on 5.5" BP.

    Steering stabilizer

I agree %100 with Bounty and JPS. They are not needed at all if your alignment is set correctly. If not they just cover up symptoms you should be noticing so a small repair doesn't become a big one. I run tires as large as 41x14.5x17 and I do not need one at all.

    1960 cj5 newbie questions

On the left side of the steering column would be the turn signal switch. If you mean on the dash left of the steering wheel than that would be a headlight switch, or the latch for folding down the windshield. Anything else would be added by a previous owner, and that's anyones guess.

    fun on the job

I am a full time FF/PM, second largest dept. in the state. Over here EPA makes it difficult to have practice burns. But we average a structure fire (not including car, dumpster, or un-attached garage) every 31 hrs. we too work 24/48.
