    Ticking coming from motor?

I think a cracked exhaust manifold would exhibit similar characteristics that the "sticky valve" would too. That is you'll hear the tick tick tick (exhaust leak) when it's cold but as it warms up and the metal expands the crack can close up enough where you no longer hear anything. Better be sure.

    Liberty speedometer

I think I'm just going to live with it that way because even if I didn't mind spending the money at the dealership, and I do, I fear that afterwards it still won't be fixed, plus, as a bonus, the module cluster will probably rattle and have something else wrong with it. Anyway I'm adjusting to...

    Liberty Malfunction light

Went looking for the canister a while ago and couldn't find it. Seems like it's down below the passenger side fender well where the windshield washer reservoir is. Otherwise, I couldn't locate it. Also, while I was at it I couldn't locate the spark plug wires on this thing either. Does it even...

    Liberty transmission question

When I bought mine (used) the same window was stuck in the up position and I had to take it in to get it fixed also. Haven't had problems with the others (yet) and am holding my breath, especially now that the air is getting colder.

    Liberty Malfunction light

Took my vehicle over to Autozone and had them use their DTC unit to find problem. Came back with 4 possibilities for light: 1) defective, loose or missing fuel cap. 2) EVAP canister broke, hose cracked or not connected. 3) Purge or vent solenoid defective. 4) vacuum leak at engine. Don't...

    Liberty Malfunction light

Thanks 54cj. Probably have to do that since I ran the test that Steel gave me and it yielded no DTCs.

    Liberty Malfunction light

Thanks Steel. Will this test preserve the odometer figures (as in total mileage & trip mileage) when the test is complete?

    Liberty Malfunction light

My 2006 Liberty (V6/Auto/35k miles) Malfunction Indicator Light (aka check engine light) has been steadily on for ~24 hrs. According to the owner's manual, it's not serious until the light begins blinking, then, they say, have the dealer check it very soon. My question is, is there a way to...

    Liberty transmission question

It looks like I'm going to have to do this myself since I've checked with a couple of local shops who told me they won't use customer's lubricant. After changing out the pan fluid, disconnecting the radiator lines and following the rest of your instructions, I assume that the transmission...

    alum wheels for Liberty

Good idea. The wheel size is 16" for the standard P225/75R16 tires that come with the vehicle.

    alum wheels for Liberty

Thinking about replacing the OEM steel wheels on my 2006 Liberty with alum ones come the next tire replacement which will be soon. I have absolutely no complaints with the steel OEM wheels other than aesthetics. The OEMs ride smooth with no detectable irregularities in spite of still having...

    Liberty speedometer

Hello; I've only been a member of this forum for a couple of months now and I'm also new to being a Jeep owner. I have a used 2006 Liberty 3.7L V6 w/AT and it has around 26k miles on and still has the stock tires that came with it. Although I'm not the original owner I'm pretty sure the tires...

    Liberty transmission question

I have heard that shops that have a system that will do this do not like to contaminate them with non-standard ATF fluids such as the kind I want to use (Amsoil ATF). I haven't really checked it out but I suppose there may be some out there that would be willing to do it.

    Liberty transmission question

I'm planning on using Amsoil ATF and from what I've read, it meets and exceeds the required ATF for this vehicle unless I'm missing something. Please explain if I am.

    Liberty transmission question

Hello members, I'm a newbie both here on this forum and also as a Jeep owner. Couple of months ago I bought a 2006 Liberty with roughly 20k miles on it. It has the 3.7L V6 with auto transmission and 4wd. I don't plan on doing any 4 wheeling with it, but I do like the way this vehicle handles...
