From all I have been hearing, the NP231 is going to be a turd compared to the Dana 300. The NP231 is made out of a bunch of beer cans. The Dana 300 is upgraded to 32 spline. ANd it has good parts in it (rebuilt). I am giving up on the 231 also because I cannot find a driver side drop Dana...

Remanufactured Dana 60 with lots of new parts, gears and locker and high steer, Heavy duty twin stick Dana 300, Heavy Duty TH350 mounted to dana 300, transmission cooler, torque converter, dipstick, and pan.....$4300. Sound good to you? I live close to the company also so I can pick it all up.

As most of you already know, I am putting a full width axle in the front of the YJ. I have no tools or means of making my own full width kit. Do you or anyone you know have a way of making me a kit or is Bluetorchfab.com (monopoly :lol: )the only way to go?

As for bolt pattern, are you sure a 78 Ff 250 Dana 44 has a 8 x 6.5 bolt pattern? It is also a low pinion axle, wil that be a problem? I keep forgetting that this axle will not work with 15" rims. So I guess I will not be using the 44. :evil:

Somewhat put it well. Once you start breaking upgraded 44 parts, there is no more room for upgrades. There is always room for upgrades on a Dana 60. I am not saying the 44 idea is completely out. It seems a lot cheaper, but I would hate to go buy all that steering crap for an axle that might...
