    tires vs. winch

I've never been stuck and I did the Rubicon this summer. :shades: Don't have a winch and I also wheeled for almost 4 years on a stock Jeep before I bought the tires and lift. You just have to learn how to pick a line and what your vehicle is capable of doing.

    Warn winch

Not trying to add another log on the fire here, but........When considering the pull weight capacity, I'm assuming we're talking about a completely dead-stick Jeep? I would think that if you're pulling yourself out of a mud hole, then you're also probably going to be using your drive wheels if...

    Rear bumper & tire carrier.

sorry it took so long to respond to this.....I haven't mounted my antennae yet. However, it seems like there is plenty of room and multiple places to suit your individual needs.

    Rear bumper & tire carrier.

Found a picture...... http://www.jeepz.com/forum/attachments/general-chat/5406d1277696948-rubicon-trail-24-27th-june-dscf4020.jpg and also, I'd like to note that I hate Smittybuilt too. In my experience, there parts are way more designed for appearance and not functionality. In fact, I'd...

    Rear bumper & tire carrier.

I have the LOD and so far it's awesome! I slid off a rock into a tree and landed on the gas can holder. The handle of the gas can was almost twisted off, but the carrier itself barely had a scratch on it. If you go with the LOD check and see if the pin on the swing out tire carrier has the...

    Roll Cage & Sun Visor

My visors were pretty close to useless before I put my cage in. The only thing I use it for now is to hold my garage door opener.

this may sound like a dumb question

I'd worry if mine didn't make some noise!

New locker switches & RCA jacks

I've seen a couple of posts about the resistor problem. I'll check the vacuum lines, but I'm not sure there are any actually. I think they're all electrically controlled? All three of the switches felt pretty loose and wore out, so I'm hoping to just find a set out of a Chrysler mini-van or...

How get MP3 interface onto year 2000 TJ ?

My Pioneer DEH-300 had an auxilary connection that I used to connect my ITouch. The cable ran out of the back of the stereo so I just made it so the connections are coming out of either side of the cig lighter and I'm able to plug the cable from the Itouch there. Here's a picture...

    Exhausting Struggle!!!!!!

Yeah it's one of those things that is a minor annoyance, so I'll let it be for now and have another stab at it when I've forgotten how hard it was to get to the last time. I actually ended up spending most of the day under the Jeep and fixed a few other things while I was there so it wasn't a...

    TJ 4" Lift progress

Sounds like a good start. Though, check with a 4x4 shop about the brake lines. I didn't change mine and I have 6" total suspension lift with no problems.

    Exhausting Struggle!!!!!!

I thought about pullin the fender too. I guess when I get my flat fenders I'll tackle this again. I tried all different combos of woblys and extensions with no luck. I like the spring extension idea though. I'll have to keep my eyes open for something like that.

    Exhausting Struggle!!!!!!

Ok....So I replaced my stock header with a Borla a few years ago. When I first installed it, I wasn't able to get all four collector bolts tightened. To be exact, I was only able to tighten three of them. The fourth was a pain in the ass and I just got it tight enough to not fall off. Well...

    Rubicon Trail 24-27th June

Finally got to run the Rubicon trail. It was pretty hard in a few places, but I was able to muscle through. I went with the Nor-Cal Broncos group. I'll definitely be doing this trail again.

    Dumb newb advice

Portals! No S***? I bought my TJ new in '01 and 3 months later they started talking about the upcoming Rubicon. I was disappointed back then, but have since built my Jeep to drive circles around a Rubi.

    Officially Trailer Trash

It's a Keystone 31BHS (bunkhouse/slide) model. There's no chance I'll be towing it with the Jeep. We like to go to Pismo to camp and ride quads so this will be mostly for that. It's not a toyhauler, but I can get both quads in the truck and still able to pull the trailer to the coast for the...

    What's your day job?

I'm currently a network systems administrator for the CA Army National Guard. I'm a full time guardsman and have about six years left until I can retire. Of course, then I have to get a real job and go to work for a living.
