Head Rebuild - Mystery bolt ID

I'm not sure what you mean by "blind", but i'm assuming that is into the coolant as there is steam coming out of the hole.

Head Rebuild - Mystery bolt ID

It's a brand new head. I think they must've drilled that because it is interchangeable with the older models as well. I confirmed with the original photos owner that it is the temp sending unit. I think instead of finding a plug to fit it, I'm just going to the junk yard and pull one off an...

Head Rebuild - Mystery bolt ID

So I put a new head on my 2001 TJ, 4.0 this weekend and I have a mystery threaded hole on the rear of the new head that does not exist on the original. Can someone please help me identify it? I've attached a picture of one I found online with something in that hole, but I don't know what it is...

    Swamp Lake/Dusy Ershim - Summer 2012

Is anyone interested in doing a Swamp Lake or Dusy trip this summer? I've been trying to go for the last 3 years, but life has got in the way every time. Let's get something together! I've done the Rubicon for the last two summers with the NorCal Broncos group. I'm tired of being the only...

    Valve Adjustment - 4.0l

I've been looking all over the net and it seems that is the popular opinion. I'll check the manual one more time to night and ask the machinist that's putting the valves in my new head also. Thanks a lot!

    Valve Adjustment - 4.0l

I'm getting ready to put my new cylinder head back on this weekend......Has anyone done valve adjustment? I've got a Haynes manual and I'm going to Google the hell out of it. I'm just looking for tips or tricks.....basically, I need a little peace of mind.

    Death wobble

There's plenty of off-road shops in San Diego area that would know exactly what you're talking about when you say "Death wobble". Personally, I'd stay away from 4Wheel Parts because they're just as bad a dealership (my opinion). I'm pretty surprised to hear that the new JK's still suffer from...

    2001 4.0l Cylinder Head (0331) Cracked

Just went out to the garage and confirmed that there is a crack. It's pretty easily seen. Ohh well.....guess I won't be getting my long arm kit yet.

    2001 4.0l Cylinder Head (0331) Cracked

My Jeep is an '01 TJ, 4.0 so this thread may belong in that forum, but since the 4.0l is pretty much the same throughout the years, I'm posting here. Jeep just overheated the other day on the way home from work (3-4miles). Turned on the heater and temp immediately dropped to normal driving...

    Expensive weekend

looks like it's all alright....well, except for the pump and the shaft. Hopefully, when they get it all back together and fire it up, it will purr like the kitten it is. I think I may have got away with it.

    Expensive weekend

So I towed my RV down the road a few hours to camp for the weekend. I actually had to work most of the weekend, but I planned to have the wife and kid meet me Sunday after work and we'd hang out for a while at the beach. Anyway, I'm cruising around Friday after work in my '03 Silverado and it...

How to install Rock Sliders on a Jeep Wrangler

If I were ya'll, I'd put a bead of silicone on before you mounted them. My theory is that it will help keep the mud out and help prevent the body from rusting under the skids. I bought the Poison Spyder set and they use the back two body mounts also. My plan is to tie the front body mount in...

Automakers Agree to 55 MPG average fleet fuel economy by 2025

Watch the movie "Gashole". I've always felt that automakers and oilmen were in it together, but this movie really brings it home. You can get it on Netflix. You'll never want to drive again!

    Exhaust noise????

Sounds like an exhaust leak. If you have the stock cast manifold then it's most likely cracked. Very common problem.

    06 TJ lift kit

Spend the extra $$$ and get the long arm! I have a short arm and I almost hate it. Trails great, but way to twitchy on the road.

Homemade Roof Rack - Building opinions

So I've been thinking about building my own roll bar mounted roof rack. Aside from all the obvious concerns (i.e. weight distro, high CG....), are there any concerns about using square or round tubing without bending the corners? To clarify, I don't have a tube bender and I'm just curious if...

    Looking for good seat covers.

I've got the neoprene ones too. I had them on for about five minutes and unfortunately, snagged the back side when I was loading for a trip.....seems like it ripped very easily. From then on, I've been real careful about not snagging them. Other than that, I love em!

    2001 TJ ignition

Found a couple of videos on youtube. I pulled the column apart today and verified it was the actuator rod that is broke. I found it on Amazon for sale along with a list of every vehicle it can be found in......I'll be hitting the Pick-n-Pull this weekend!
