    Waterproofing

Hello, I am starting a project to waterproof my TJ. Besides the snorkel which I already have installed, what other things do I need to worry about? I know that the electrical system needs to be sealed. I heard of sealed alternators and sealed spark plugs but I am not sure how to seal these...

To flush or not to flush?

    - 99 TJ 4.0L, 40k mi. - mud got into the engine. - engine occasionally sputters and sluggish acceleration. Should I take it to a shop and get the engine flushed? I looked up the topic a bit and some people have had their engines destroyed by doing this.. they said from the left over debris...

Engine Sputtering, Lacking Acceleration and Power... Can it be the Exhaust?

Ok here's an update. Totally new exhaust system.. new cat converter, o2 sensor, and muffler. Finally got the mud off the radiator so my engine temp is somewhat closer to normal now, although the temp still rises a bit too fast in my opinion (10 minutes of driving and its up to 200 already)...

Engine Sputtering, Lacking Acceleration and Power... Can it be the Exhaust?

Just wanna say thanks again to all of you for your replies. To be on the safe side, and assuming my engine is fine, I'm moving forward to replace the entire exhaust system starting from the cat converter and the o2 sensors. Engine Sputtering, Lacking Acceleration and Power... Can it be the Exhaust?

I wouldn't be surprised if mud got in the catalytic converter. As soon as I got pulled out of the mud pit, the pipe between the catalytic converter and the muffler was already cracked. Also, A question regarding O2 sensors. I looked up the topic a bit and can't seem to find where the upstream...

Engine Sputtering, Lacking Acceleration and Power... Can it be the Exhaust?

Thanks a lot guys. I'm gonna go ahead and clean up under the hood, everything is brown in there. No smoke or anything like that. O2 sensors are probably the thing to check after getting the muffler installed. Thanks again.

Engine Sputtering, Lacking Acceleration and Power... Can it be the Exhaust?

Hello, This is kind of related to my previous post. I am trying to get my 99 TJ back to good health after a rough mudding trip. I had hydrolocked my engine and managed to turn it over and get it running again. Mud was definitely in the engine and in the oil. So far I had changed the oil, oil...

    Hydrolocked and Recovered but...

Hey there, I have a 99 TJ auto straight 6, and I just need some advice on what my next course of action should be. So I went muddin.. its like my 5th time, but you can call me a beginner. Not having judged the depth of the pit correctly, I had plunged into a deep one and the engine had died...

A question on drilling through the floor

Hey all, I'm planning on drilling through the metal floor of my 99 TJ just beneath the rear passenger seat (to secure an amplifier). Am I gonna hit anything down there or should I just drill away? Thanks in advance for responses.

A Question Regarding Taking the TJ Floor Carpets Off

Hey all, I plan to permanently remove the carpeting on my 99 TJ. I just find it helpful when hosing the interior down as I get a lot of mud and debri inside. After taking the carpets off I noticed the warning labels on both driver and front passenger side that the carpeting helps dissipate...
