I can't find the diagram for your year, but I would suspect a loose connection between the distributer and ecm module. Good luck, If you can get any more symptoms let me know.

I assume by '88 they had gone to the magnetic pickup in the distributer, instead of contacts. You either have a problem with the wire from the distributor to the ecm, or the ecm is the problem. The pickup in your distributor sends a pulse each time it wants the coil to spark. I need to check my...

I agree with jpninpa. I would look for a loose connection. You can put a meter across the battery. Crank the engine, turn on your headlights, for a load, and move wires, plug on back of alt., and other stuff. If your meter goes down while moving stuff, you are close to the bad connection. Also...

Are they both fed from the same fuse? I think you need to recheck your meter readings. Unless you have a 24 volt system, maybe you didn't make good connection with your meter probes. Place the meter on resistance, put one lead on the small battery post, the other on the case of the amp, meter...

It could be key switch or bad connection somewhere, fuse? Usually with regulators they are good or bad. Not to say they don't go intermittent. But not very often. Good suggestion t use a meter on it. Good luck.

It acts like I have switched the key off. It is probably around 2000 rpm. During acceleration. If I let off, or push harder it takes off, throwing you back in the seat. It is one small spot in the throttle that this happens.

Just a thought, In a lot of hardware stores, they have small blocks of epoxy that you mush together to activate then push it into stuff like a thick putty. You may also be able to chip it back out if needed, in the future. I have only used this stuff once, but it does hang on well, and is strong.
