Having an issue with a hood prop

I think it happens to all who raise kids. Mine are all grown. I had two boys, and twin girls. The youngest is 30 now. The oldest son is just like me. He got into much more trouble, but only because he got caught. It is real hard to scold a child when you did the same thing, when you were young...

Having an issue with a hood prop

Hi Taralynn, Well, sometimes I think my braves are an elementary school baseball team, then nap time is over, and they play "for a while". If they would listen to me, yelling at the TV, they would win more! Oh well. I plan to restore my Jeep, minus the factory green paint, to as close to...

Having an issue with a hood prop

Yes, after seeing the picture of your 76, I understand the need for a hood prop. Maybe some day I will need to worry about my paint. It is great running into a lady, who enjoys the vintage Jeeps. Most would go for the auto everything on the new ones. They do get a lot of looks when driving down...

    1957 Jeep forward control 150

If the battery cables are still in the jeep, look at the battery clamps. The one with the largest post size is always plus, smaller is minus. Then find which one is on the chassis. Sounds like a great toy...

1986 Cherokee jeep, to install a new cable battery cord

If you are working around the red wire on the battery, please remember the wrench can't touch the metal around it. The battery will cause Damage if shorted to the body. Please be careful.

need help with a no spark problem

I can't find the diagram for your year, but I would suspect a loose connection between the distributer and ecm module. Good luck, If you can get any more symptoms let me know.

need help with a no spark problem

I assume by '88 they had gone to the magnetic pickup in the distributer, instead of contacts. You either have a problem with the wire from the distributor to the ecm, or the ecm is the problem. The pickup in your distributor sends a pulse each time it wants the coil to spark. I need to check my...

    Wacky Alternator?

I agree with jpninpa. I would look for a loose connection. You can put a meter across the battery. Crank the engine, turn on your headlights, for a load, and move wires, plug on back of alt., and other stuff. If your meter goes down while moving stuff, you are close to the bad connection. Also...

    75 CJ-5 custom build

Wow, I can't believe how much your jeep looks like mine. Mine was the same green, and now is mainly the flat military green, with flat black mixed in. You sure are doing a lot of work to it. I will eventually restore mine, but I want to play for a while. I am looking forward to seeing the after...

    no dome light or radio

Are they both fed from the same fuse? I think you need to recheck your meter readings. Unless you have a 24 volt system, maybe you didn't make good connection with your meter probes. Place the meter on resistance, put one lead on the small battery post, the other on the case of the amp, meter...

    Wacky Alternator?

It could be key switch or bad connection somewhere, fuse? Usually with regulators they are good or bad. Not to say they don't go intermittent. But not very often. Good suggestion t use a meter on it. Good luck.

    Dead spot in Carburator

Thanks for all the suggestions on my carburetor. I pulled it off this morning. It was full of trash and, screws loose. I used two cans of cleaner, and dawn dishwashing detergent with a tooth brush. It is perfect. By the way, it turned out it is a Motor craft not a Holly. I can't read well...

    Dead spot in Carburator

Thanks, I believe I have eliminated every thing else. I just hate to get a rebuild kit, and do a rebuild on it. But, I don't want to drive like this, till my new engine is completed in a few months. It did sit for a long time before I bought it, so the carb is probably full of varnish/crud. I...

    Dead spot in Carburator

It acts like I have switched the key off. It is probably around 2000 rpm. During acceleration. If I let off, or push harder it takes off, throwing you back in the seat. It is one small spot in the throttle that this happens.

    Dirty speakers

I highly recommend, wet Q-tips. If you need longer the wooden ones go to about 5" in length. Just use water, as your cone is polymer. Be sure to stay away with anything metal. I say this with lots of experience. You will destroy your speaker in the blink of an eye. If you need to get crap out...

2nd (or 3rd) hand PIAA fog lights

Just a thought, In a lot of hardware stores, they have small blocks of epoxy that you mush together to activate then push it into stuff like a thick putty. You may also be able to chip it back out if needed, in the future. I have only used this stuff once, but it does hang on well, and is strong.
