Getting 33's - need help with wheels!!!

At $120/set, I'd buy 'em. Sell your chrome rims on ebay. Even if you get $40 for your old set, you're sitting pretty. corey

    Trail Legal

If you have a receiver hitch in the rear, that can be used as a recovery point. But you need to get a proper shackle or hook to fit in the receiver box. corey

    Body Lift Height

Stacker, you are correct. The Daystar kit is all you need to replace the entire mount AND net 1" of body lift. You are making the right decision. Note: the Daystar mounts are made from polyurethane which are stiffer than rubber, so you may notice some stiffness immediately after installing...

    YJ dash speakers

It's 4x6 but you have to get speakers that are flush when bottom-mounted. There can be no tweeter protrusion. If you already have speakers that will protrude when bottom mounted, you must get enough washers or some form of spacer to prevent contact... just like TwistedCopper said. And yes...

    Which Oil???

I run the high mileage stuff too. I run 10w40 year round. I also have an 89 YJ - 2.5L with 166K miles ... never rebuilt, so you know it's worn. Corey

    New Tires, Part Deux

Sparky, what kind of wheels are you running? Stock 15x7? I'd just adjust the steering stops. You'll get used to the lack of turn radius. I wouldn't worry about the rear flare rub. Will not be an issue with lift shackles or more lift. If you really want to spend $, you could get some TJ...

ok... looking for everyone's two cents worth....

I run the Hell Creek lift and I would swear by it. True, I've never owned any other brand of lift, but for a 4" lift kit for $425 shipped to my door with EVERYTHING you need (dropped pitman arm, shocks, etc.) it's very much worth the money. You don't need to pay an extra $100 or more for a...

    What is my YJ worth?

I'd say about $7k. Although it's a 4-cylinder, it's a solid motor. And with only 60K miles helps even more. The 95 model has the better front axle of the YJ series (bigger u-joints). A real jeeper wouldn't be crazy about the 3" body lift, but the fact that it comes with 35's is a sparkle in...

    Swapped my speedo gear

tombredone, you'd have to find one out of another vehicle with the same transfer case as yours and a different axle gear ratio. Use the calculator link above and find out how many teeth you need for your gear. Then go t-case hunting. Good luck. corey

    Reciver Shackle

    I got a warn-replica for $32 from www.followmyrutz.com and it's brand new.

    Herculiner!!....

I did a project page on my website on lining your Jeep with Herculiner. http://coreyandhis.jeepz.com/photo2.html Yes, you should definitely wear long sleeves and gloves. I bought a bag of latex gloves. Also, wear old shoes and pants. I got it on my work pants, alot. Luckily, they're...

    Rocker gaurds

Bounty, can you post a picture of the under side how it mounts? You said to the seatbelt brace, and near the fire wall... is that the only 2 underside locations? corey

Thinking about getting a SWB Jeep.

I have to agree with TwistedCopper. The YJ is simpler in it's suspension design. You can ditch all the flex-restrictors (rear-track bar, sway bar, front track bar) and still maintain a fairly stable ride. I'll have to narrow my suggestion down to the 1995 YJ 4.0 because of the stronger...

    Getting New Tires Finally

I just took off a set of 1.25" lift shackles for the YJ. Nothing wrong with them, just too tall when coupled with my 4" suspension lift. You want them? Email me. You can see pictures of what they look like on my Jeep at my website below. corey

    I lowered my Jeep!

lol... that was my trick to get you to read my post... hee hee. I really posted it because I didn't think it would make that big of a difference, but it did and wanted all others out there with long shackles to think about the switch too. They were nice to clear 31's when I had stock springs...

    I lowered my Jeep!

Yeah, I swapped out my 1.25" lift shackles for my homemade .5" lift shackles this weekend. What? Did you think I mean "lowered" as in ricer level? Right. It's only a .75" difference but I have notice less vibes and my steering is a little more responsive. The 33's still have ample...

    Quick fluid question

Which manual, AX5/15? I think synthetic is fine for these 2 trannies. I use the Pennzoil Synchromesh, but a synthetic, GL-5 should be fine. C

    EZ-locker or Lock-Right

What about a Truetrac in the rear (D35)? I'm not sure I want to have to "tap the brakes" everytime I want it to work, nor wheel with the e-brake on. What's a welded rear feel like on the street in turns? I bet it's pretty wierd.

    Question about my transmission

Yeah, early YJs have the slave cylinder inside the bellhousing so that valve is just sticking out of a hole like it's out of place. I think the slave went exterior on 94 and new models. Maybe 93, not sure. C

    EZ-locker or Lock-Right

Yeah, what's a LS cost? And where do you get one? Are they as easy to install as a Lock-Right? Corey
