    the wave

RE: Re: RE: the wave Am I worthy to even lick boots in this forum? According to my score I should have my hands cut off. Well, at least I haven't "lowered" the Jeep! Nice wake up call for the newbie crowd just getting started on the build-up. Thanks to everyone for being patient with...

31's rub on stock TJ suspension

Just picked up some Canyon rim 15x8's on ebay for the 2004 TJ X. I had the stock 15x7's but wanted to go to a taller and wider tire. Besides the Canyon's look better than the steel factory wheels. Anyway, I've heard that 31 x 10.5 x 15 tires rub....just a little....at full flex on factory TJ...

    New Jeep Owner w/questions

We've got an 2004 TJ 6cyl with a 5 speed. Although the noise you're describing is difficult to interpret, I can say that our Jeep doesn't like 87 octane...at all. It causes a lot of pinging under load. We switched to 89....and the noise went away.

Rear toe Hooks for 05 TJ

RE: GUESS WHO Toe hooks? I think my wife has one of those...nasty! Tow hooks though. I have a 04 TJ X. From the factory it came with 2 front tow hooks attached to the stock bumper. They go ON TOP of the front bumper just above the rubber bump stops. They'll attach with two large torx head bolts...

Do I REALLY need to regear?

RE: TJ stock bumper winch compatibility Okay...when I bought the Jeep I didn't pay too much mind to the rear axle ratio. I figured...it's a Jeep!! I went with the X because I knew I didn't want the 4 cylinder. It's a 2004 TJ X with a 3.07 rear axle ratio and 5 speed. I live in Florida so my...

    TJ stock bumper winch compatibility

exhaust manifold gasket I'm a little ways off from getting a winch but I wanted some opinions. I have a 2004 TJ X with stock bumpers. What do you recommend regarding winches and bumpers? It appears that many people go with an aftermarket bumper when adding a winch. Are the stock bumpers strong...

    Recovery strap recommendations

Finally got a new Jeep Thanks for the great info! Looks like the consistency is 20-30 feet and 20,000 to 30,000 rating with NO METAL (with the possible exception of a couple of very heavy duty shackles/d-rings...just in case). Thanks again!!!

    Recovery strap recommendations

Re: RE: Re: Time for the Tourney! Getting ready to invest in a recovery strap. I've seen lengths available from 10ft to 60ft with ratings from 10,000lbs up to 89,000lbs. What length/rating are you carrying or do you recommend? Any types/brands to avoid? Ever had one break on you? Thanks

    Clutch noise in '01 TJ

My '04 TJ 5 speed has done the same thing since day one. It's never got any worse. I posted a very similar question in this thread. http://www.jeepz.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=326238&highlight=

    rough idle 4l

RE: Change dana or change differential ratio? I have an 04 Wrangler X with a 4.0L I6. We've never got less than 14mpg, even in stop and go traffic commutes. We're usually around 17mpg though. Mine's a 5 speed with a 3.07 axle ratio and 30" tires. If you've had this problem from day one, then...

    best way to rotate tires

Manual Transmission Rattle in Neutral, TJ Here's my solution to the mystery: Assuming you're using a 4 tire rotation sequence (forget the spare). Always rotate in the following pattern: LF to RR RF to LR LR to LF RR to RF Why, you ask? This pattern moves turning wheels to rolling wheels and...

Manual Transmission Rattle in Neutral, TJ

Question for the group. I have an 04' TJ manual tran 6-cyl. If I'm idling in neutral with the clutch disengaged I hear a very slight rattle. It sounds like transmission teeth are just barely rubbing...like almost ready to catch. If I engage the clutch, the noise goes away. It's never slipped...

Changed to synthetic blend oil, should water temp drop?

chevey 350 for sale I've started taking the plunge from regular oil on my way to full synthetic. I'm going the route of a synthetic blend as a mid-point. I've expected some benefits but one thing that has changed that I didn't expect is the the water temp guage now reads about 10 degrees less...

    Will tires fit on wheels?

Do you have a skid plate story? Regarding the 15x7 vs 15x8 fit. BFGoodrich has technical specs and recommended rim widths on their website. They'll fit on the 15x7. http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/assets/pdf/all_terrain_ta_kd.pdf Consider the pros/cons though. Moving up from the factory 28's...

Do you have a skid plate story?

Right now I've just got the factory skid plates on my TJ Wrangler X (no lift). Around Florida I'm mostly concerned with smacking a stump in the mud or playing Titanic against a limerock boulder that's hiding like an iceberg. I don't have the cash right now to completely armor the underbody so I...

    Jeepz forum kudos

Re: RE: Re: Serious for a Change - Jobs This is only my second message posting, but I've done a lot of reading in the forums on Jeepz. I just wanted to say that all the comments I've seen are positive and constructive. No one ever responds to a "simple" question with a "you're an idiot" answer...

    Liberty wheels on a TJ?

RE: Gosh It I have a 2004 Jeep Wrangler X. The factory rims are 15x7. I want to put on 16" rims and bigger tires. I'd really like to keep with genuine Jeep parts. I've been shopping for Rubicon rims as they are 16x8. They're quite expensive, even used. I noticed that Jeep Liberty rims are...
