Nitrile is a good all around choice for most hydrocarbons, I use em a lot for tinkering. Though, if you're doing some degreasing with xylene, MEK or halogenated hydrocarbons (methylene chloride, tri) it's not the best choice. Here's a link to a reasonable glove chart for those nasty chemicals...

I've never paid attention, but I would think that as you move foreward on the jeep away from the axle you would get a stiffer rate

I get that stuff anytime I wrap my skin with saran, it's just a po'd skin hive/heat rash thingy. Probably is the wetsuit; or it could be something from your dirty hippie friend, or church related guilt hives. Just to cover all the bases I'd suggest the steroid cream, sanitize your wetsuit and...
