    strange problem

this past weekend i took a trip and ran into a problem with my jeep that i can't figure out. as i'm driving (at any speed and in any gear... w/ a 5-speed), the jeep will randomly "stall" out. it's hard to explain what i mean by "stall" though... the engine doesn't die or even come close to...

whats the biggest tires i can put on my factory suspention

i have a 97 that i put 30 X 9.5's on with a stock suspension. i really didn't like the way it looked though... the tires completely filled the wheel wells and it just didn't look right, plus i had absolutely no room for flex whatsoever and i rubbed whenever i turned sharp enough. since then i've...

    question about SUV's in general...........

my advice would be to look into an XJ (Cherokee... not Grand Cherokee... which are WJ's or ZJ's, depending on the year) as quite a few other people have suggested. i have a 97 cherokee and love it... they are MUCH easier to work on and modify than a grand, and are a good bit cheaper. they also...

    painting the bumper

i don't know if you've ever heard of LINE-X or if there is a dealer that can apply it near you... but the stuff is great! its sorta like a spray on truckbed liner... except much better. i'd check into it if i was you. i actually thought about doing it to my bumper... but just never got around to...

    Antique Car Question

thanks for the input everybody... it's always good to hear some opinions and advice from guys that know a heck of a lot more than i do. the car would actually be for my roommate (i already have the best vehicle in the world... my jeep!)... but i think he has somewhat decided that he needs to...

    Antique Car Question

i have a friend who is looking to possibly buy a 1950 dodge coronet with a flathead 6. neither of us really know much about them (or any cars that old for that matter), but its in good shape overall, is a pretty cool old car, and runs great. the guy is asking $3000 for it... which i think is a...

    Name Brand vs Homebrew filter.

i'm running the K&N FIPK on my 4.0 cherokee. the entire air intake system such as that is definitely much better than a simple drop in filter (or any other type of modification that still retains the airbox). you don't necessarily have to go with the entire kit by K&N though... just use a K&N...

    Snowboard rack on my TJ

i'm sure either yakima or thule would make a model that would fit right onto your hard top. their systems are designed where you buy the main rails with whatever type of mounts your vehicle needs, and then just put whatever type of rack you need onto those rails (bike, ski, canoe, etc.). i have...

    Advise

NEW JEEP PICKUPS!!! i would advise that if you are looking for XJ's (cherokees that is) that you look no earlier than early 90's. the older ones like the 89's tend to have more probs than the newer ones for a number of reasons (other than the fact that they're simply older). you definitely...

    WV TRAILS

there are plenty of great trails around the charleston area. one of my favorites is right off route 60 a little bit past kanawha city. theres an access road just on the other side of turnpike ford which lies at the base of what is called "bald knob mountain". if you are familiar with the area...

drivline vibe, but why with a tiny lift?

if it does turn up to be driveline vibes from the lift... you can get a simple t-case lowering kit for about $25 that would solve the problem for good.

When did you 1st catch "Jeep fever"?

Keepin the alternator alive? well it all started when i was about 5... i got my first powerwheels jeep. i went through 4 of them before it was all said and done (i kept burning out the little electric motors. then i began to have an interest in my grandfathers 1978 CJ-5 (which is in mint...

i always tell everybody that is looking for lifts to go to www.rustysoffroad.com first... they have great prices and complete kits. with a 4.5" lift you should be able to clear 33's without any fender trimming.

    jet chip

go with a high-flow air intake (K&N, etc.). thats the easiest way to let your engine breath better (and breathing better is the same principle that a turbo charger works on...). i have one in my 4.0 and i really did notice a difference (much more than the TB spacer i used).
