Nevermind, I went back to JP magazine.com and found the article in wich I saw the mount. It came from kevins offroad.

Check the tires, If they are brand new or worn more on one side that the other beware. The rear might have taken enough of a hit to cause some misalignment. Better still sneak off to a garage to have the alignment checked. If it's bad it'll eat tires.

Speaking of ground points-- if you've been in muddy water deep enough to get to the trailer lights recepticle, check to see that it's clean, mine got full once and shorted out a bunch of stuff. Example, my radio antenna would go up only when the passenger door was open.

I picked the 231 up from a guy who builds jeeps, I didn't know they were also slip-yoked. I knew about having to swap the inputs. I found a couple other threads on the subject and it seems that as long as I stay at 3" of lift the slip yoke won't be a problem.

Alright, I'm gonna do a t-case swap and have found a 231 in good shape. I now have the 249 with the slip yoke rear output. The 231 has a spline shaft. Question is-- is it wrth the trouble of building another drive shaft to make make the spline drive work. I'm running a 3" lift and haven't heard...

I really like the idea of getting the limited slip outof the deal, but I dunno if a 700 or so price tag is doable. I might do the disc conversion for now and go for the limted slip later.

You might also goto a good parts store such as NAPA and ask for a riv-nut. They're for what you describe, only being accessable from one side. We used them in a few places on the 2 1/2 ton military trucks, the nut itself is mounted to a washer by collapsing legs of a soft metal. I hope riv-nut...
