SOA done but man it rides rough...

I did an SOA on my 84 CJ7. I used new 6 leaf wrangler springs front and rear and new shocks. Also new steering stabilizer up front. It rides like a tank. I did this 10 yrs ago the same way and I recall it being much smoother ride. Any thoughts as to why that would be? Maybe I'm just older...

What size tires can I put on my '95 Wrangler

He's right, you got to go 4" lift with drop pitman arm and shocks. It's your best bet.

    Brake line blow out... twice!

I'll try that... can't imagine its getting caught but maybe. There's no way improper bleeding could put too much pressure on them and cause them to burst?? Thanks, Tom

    Brake line blow out... twice!

Guys I had two Edelbrock extended front brake lines completely snap on me. Both broke in the same spot, just below the upper nut. These where put on carefully and not twisted weakening the metal. They are also plenty long enough when turning the tires fully in either direction. What could...

EFI for 78 CJ, Howell, 4.0, or V8?

Looks good Frank. I'd love to do the dana 44's too but they definitely stick out. Think I may keep my AMC 20 weld the tubes and truss it and shorten a wagoneer 44. Thanks for posting the pics tom

EFI for 78 CJ, Howell, 4.0, or V8?

Well Frank I'll give you my 2 cents. I myself am starting to think about what to do with my 84 CJ7 with 4.2. I think these are great motors actually. Getting the most out of them depends on gearing, fuel, and condition though. My first CJ7 had a 258 in great shape. I put a weber on it and...

    CJ& Fuel lines

I bought an 84CJ7 and the previous owner replaced the fuel tank, sending unit and lines. He used 5/16 for mostly everything he replaced. I replaced the return line with stainless from 4WD because rubber was used past the catalytic converter. Noticed the return was 1/4" and looking at inlets...

    CJ7 Motorcraft carb

Looks like it was just high idle after all. The idle was set with a rig job, no screw. I got a new screw idled down tweaked the mix and it shuts off fine now. Never checked the jets but I got to imagine there small cause it doesn't have any issues at all now. Thanks, Tom

    CJ7 Motorcraft carb

Actually have no complaints about this carb as is accept for the sputtering when shutting it off. It doesn't seem like it's giving the Jeep a tremendous amount of extra horse power. I'll let you know about the jet size tomorrow. Thanks Tom

    CJ7 Motorcraft carb

Thank Collin... I'll check that this weekend. The thing is if the carb was too big wouldn't I have decent power? This thing is so much slower than my last Jeep which had a Weber. This new one only has 2:73 gearing but with the stock tires on it I wouldn't expect it to be such a dog. There's...

    Front Dana 44 in a CJ7

it's only about 5" when you use stock YJ springs. I did before a few years back and the nice thing is it rides real smooth. The only problem was since I locked the front I kept breaking U joints.

Want to keep that stock look.... other than the spring over with 35's of coarse.

    CJ7 Motorcraft carb

Thanks Collin. The carb was on it when I got the Jeep. The only writing on the side looks like 1.2.1. Motorcraft is also written on the top diagonally. It's got a manual choke which I'd love to change. I've got no other info unfortunately. Any idea's?

    CJ7 Motorcraft carb

My new Cj has a motorcraft and it idles good but I don't think the power is even close to a weber. Jeep also sputters a bit when you shut it off and then once its done that its difficult to start it. Anyone know how to fix that? Thanks, Tom

    Front Dana 44 in a CJ7

Any one here done this yet. From what I've read the Wagoneer 44 in the late 70's narrow tracks is the way to go. Long side just needs to be shortened by 4".
