    1994 grand cherokee drivetrain question

Yes, it is on coil springs all around and has a straight axle in front. Depending on what you want to end up with, there are lots of options. I own a 95 and a 2000 Grand Cherokee. Both are on stock suspension and these things are wicked on the trail. On my 95 I went up to 30x9.5 tires (the...

    Want to upgrade tires

You can easily fit 30x9.5" tires under a GC with no mods. Any bigger than that and you'll get some rubbing. I run this size on my 95 GC.

    '00 GC Alarm question

Its been a while, but I'm still lurking.. :) I just bought an '00 Grand Cherokee. It has the dreaded factory alarm system. I know with my '95 I can disarm the alarm by unlocking the drivers door with the key (the fob is MIA). For some reason, this does not disarm the alarm on the '00 and it...

    Cherokee or Grand Cherokee?

Pros: 4 wheel coil spring which makes it way more flexy stock than a stock XJ any day. Smoother ride on & off the highway. Cons: about 6" wider and longer than the XJ. about 500lb heavier than the XJ. All in all I'll take a ZJ any day. I love my ZJ on the trail. With the front sway bar...

    Rear pinion seal

Hey everyone.. its been a while but I'm still alive & kicking,... I actually popped in to research pinion seal replacement on my 95 ZJ (yup, I'm still driving it - with 198k on it now). I thought it humorous that one of the hits I got on the Pinion seal replacement was when I blew the front...

over heats wheb i run my a/c

My ZJ runs at 210 under normal conditions with the A/C off... with it on I see about 220. this is normal. It has to hit like 240 before you need to worry. Today's engines are designed to run at 210 degrees.. the days of 190 are gone.

    Batwoman is a lesbian!

So long as they don't plan on having any explicit girl-girl action I see no problems with it at all. Gays & Lesbians are a reality, and making her a Lesbian is not a bad thing. Anything explicit (straight or gay/lesbian) would be bad in a comic book.

    ZJ afraid of the dark

OK, here's the situation.. 95 ZJ. I was in a minor accident which bent the frame a tad up front (thank goodness for the front receiver), no body damage. Now the Jeep is afraid of the dark, I cannot get the interior lights to turn off. I tried manually pushing all the door switches and working...

    Fuel Economy Standards going up

the V bug was less than 2000 pounds and was fine at highway speeds. Weight isn't really an issue if the suspension is set up for the vehicle weight properly.

    Fuel Economy Standards going up

Sure it will... the technology has existed for years, but the auto manufacturers refuse to invest the $$$ to put it into production or finish the research properly. The first thing that needs to change is going to carbon fiber for the body & frame... 1/2 the weight and stronger than steel. your...

    Mpg Drop!!

if you want the best mileage that you can get.. use the cruise control whenever possible.. it really helps. I just got back form an 800 mile trip with the ZJ and according to the computer, I got just over 21 MPG - and that was going across PA into WV through the mountains. I get nearly 500 miles...

    grand cherokee very unstable

Is the rear swaybar still installed? check the rear suspension, it could be your problem. Also, check the control arm bushings. Another thing to check is wheel bearings - slop there could cause the wheels to move funny.

    resetting tire bead w/ hairspray

"Hey Y'all, hold my beer"... sorry, had to say it.. just be careful if you try something like this, it is real easy to get hurt. I'd recommend even a portable air compressor and anything to wet the beed - even water. this is much safer.

    Strange sound in reverse

check the transmission fluid level, you may be low, and the off-camber angle could have you low on fluid at a critical spot in the transmission..... automatic transmissions are driven entirely by fluid pressure.

    brake prob

Sounds like a vacuum problem with the brake booster to me. Master cylinder/air in the lines would lead to a spongy pedal. Bad vacuum booster/low vacuum would cause the pedal to be hard and not brake well (which seems to fit the symptoms as described). Check the vacuum lines and make sure they...

    Bearing questions

Yup. the driver side bearing was on its way out. I could feel the flat spot once I had the assy out of the jeep. Much quieter now - apparently it was getting louder over time and I didn't notice it over the whine from the rear. I pulled the axles & checked the U-joints while I was in there, I...
