You can easily fit 30x9.5" tires under a GC with no mods. Any bigger than that and you'll get some rubbing. I run this size on my 95 GC.

My ZJ runs at 210 under normal conditions with the A/C off... with it on I see about 220. this is normal. It has to hit like 240 before you need to worry. Today's engines are designed to run at 210 degrees.. the days of 190 are gone.

Is the rear swaybar still installed? check the rear suspension, it could be your problem. Also, check the control arm bushings. Another thing to check is wheel bearings - slop there could cause the wheels to move funny.

check the transmission fluid level, you may be low, and the off-camber angle could have you low on fluid at a critical spot in the transmission..... automatic transmissions are driven entirely by fluid pressure.
