If it were a drag car maybe. Most people tend to over-carb. That will cause it to flood out easily.
Its easier to tune a smaller carb. I have a Performer 600 on a buick 350 .30 over and it was a drop in and running, but still needed tuning.
IMO- I would just do a OEM replacement. Mainly becouse I just dislike body lifts.
Body lifts stretch things that were never ment to be stretched, brake lines, hoses, drop the shifter.
1 inch is not that much, its up too you.
