    O2 sensor question

Well, your white wires will be your heater wires, the gray will be your ground, and the black is your signal wire to your ecm. When your engine is warmed up, you should get .01-.09v on the signal wire. You are showing 4.14-4.13 signal. I would double check with the mfg of your sensor to validate...

    Back firing issue

Might check your fuel pressure also, pump might not be delivering enough pressure and causing a lean condition. I would also check exhaust manifold for leaks regarding back fire. When your exhaust has a leaks it mixes air and combines with unspent fuel and combusts. My .02 for the day.

    Deleting smog?

Well, whatever the law is regarding cats, I'm not putting back on what someone else removed. I've got most the other stuff out of the way already. The bolts on the risers just broke off, so I will just have the holes welded closed. The exhaust manifolds were barely torqued down and had to be...

    duraspark ignition module?

Well, unplugged the idle speed control module for a few days and all ran just fine so out it came. My only problem now is that once I noticed that, I noticed everything else that is wired up crazy. I can't believe that AMC thought duct tape was a great tool to use for electrical wiring and I...

    CJ7 Catalytic Converter

Well, you might experience some backfiring issues since the unspent fuel will be detonating in your exhaust instead of burning in the cats. I am having that issue currently but am in the process of deleting the smog entirely.

    Deleting smog?

The PO of my jeep (CJ7) AMC 360 upgraded the exhaust and when he did he deleted the cats (catalytic converter). I live in western Colorado and there is no smog requirements here and being that I am under the hood cleaning out his rats nest of wiring, I figured I would also delete the rest of the...

    O2 sensor question

Your hot should be one of the white wires, possibly one is striped. You might also check the ground wires for a voltage drop reading. A max voltage reading of 0.250 volt indicates a bad (shorted) wire connections. Do this with key on and reading must be done when engine is hot and cold. They...

    O2 sensor question

Have you checked the voltage going to the sensor? Disconnect the sensor and see if your getting 12v on the power lead. Anything less and it's a power problem.

    duraspark ignition module?

Thanks for the welcome note! I would imagine I will be here frequently. I am far from a mechanic (other than a google one) at this point but am quickly learning what is needed to own one of these old but wonderful rides. Thanks again and happy jeeping!

    duraspark ignition module?

Ok, after browsing different boards and doing my google mechanic skills, I have found this is a idle control module not a ignition control as I previously thought. So on that note, being this is a TBI setup which has a IAC I would really imagine this thing is useless and is most likely doing...

    duraspark ignition module?

I have this old ignition module still hooked up on my jeep and was wondering what it is being used for? When I bought the jeep, the PO had installed a MSD dizzy and coil which would already have a built in module. Can I safely just delete this? I'm trying my best to clean up a rats nest of wires...

    81 CJ Duraspark wiring

Hi all, first post and doing it to a old thread. I have basically the same question here as the previous. I have an old Duraspark module that is hooked in but the PO had already put in a MSD unilite dizzy and coil. What is the purpose of this module still being hooked up?
