    Engine swap for '07 JK

Honestly, I would look into superchips. I have friends with JK's and they all say it was the best $$ they have ever spent on their jeeps. Better transmission response, better throttle response and overall more HP. Probably run you around $300-400

    Never assume anything

Yep, that is exactly what would happen. I never ran it out of gas cause I like to keep half a tank in, but it would get down to the point where the pump was not picking up except when it sloshed around in the tank and was burning pumps up. Burned up 4 pumps cause of it. Sure there was a lot of...

    Never assume anything

Figured out the reason to all my problems with my jeep and all the money I spent trying to fix the issue. Dropped my tank to put the fuel pump in there and found a 20 gallon tank with a 15 gallon sending unit. :x:x:x Holy hell!!!!

Going a little nuts, need help!

Wow, I am ****ed like no other. Looked online for a advanced curve kit for the unilite and could not find one anywhere. Called Mallory and they told me they are no longer making anything for the distributors but are going to bring them back (someday). Arghhhh I really did not want to buy another...

Going a little nuts, need help!

Raised it to 20* and seems to run much better. I'm not getting any starter kickback but am stressing over ping since I have some pretty crisp pipes and can't really hear what the engine is telling me when driving it. I might lower it down to 18* to be on the safe side and tackle the dizzy this...

What did you do to your Jeep today?

Hooked up a stick of C-4 to the alarm system and remote detonated! :) JK sometimes I feel that way though.

Going a little nuts, need help!

So when I first started to tune the jeep, I disconnected the vacuum from the dizzy and rev'd it to around 3k and found there is only 10* of mechanical advance. Your assumptions of the previous post are correct, I opened up the dizzy and found the PO had changed the springs in it and set the...

    Possible belt problems?

This is one of those "What was the last thing you did problems" In my field I.T a problem that has just occurred is 99% of the time related to what someone else had just recently done. You changed out your water pump and replaced a belt, and I would be willing to bet that the pump is not...

Going a little nuts, need help!

Ok, figured out part 2 of this equation. Hooked up a test light to the IAC and was only getting power to 2 wires. I disconnected the 32 pin connector from the ECM and keyed on the ignition and tested pins 3,4,5,6 coming out of the ECM itself and am only getting power to pins 3 & 4. I guess it's...

Going a little nuts, need help!

Tuning and idle? SO I finally got around to deleting the smog junk out of the jeep and rewiring the whole thing due to the PO screwing everything up. Anyhow, I am trying to get it tuned up and a few things are causing my OCD to ramp up. To start with the tuning, I began to go after setting the...

    Spark plug wires...

Just did mine and first time using the universal wires. They were Accel and I did not know you needed to cut them to length and attach the ends. Wires cost me $60.00 and the damn crimper from Napa cost me $55.00  Seriously $55.00 for a pair of pliers. Oh well, found out why my coil was...

    Ballast Resistor?

Another question? I have a delco alternator and noticed that the 2 wire connection plug that has the red looping back to the batt terminal does not loop back, mine just runs tot he connector and stops. Why the need for the loop and what problems might it cause if not connected this way.

    Potentially Buying a CJ

Honestly, you have a few folks that like the old CJ 5's but I would say 90% prefer a 7 (Myself included). The wheel base is so darn short on the 5's that they are quite tipsy when lifted. I would just jump on Craigslist and find a 7 you can test drive.

    Ballast Resistor?

I've looked at the two side by side so to speak and looks like the wire from napa (Echlin product) has a resistance of 1.35 ohms and the mallory 700 has a variable resistance of .70-1.50. Kinda odd to me why you would want a variable resistance? Seems like your voltage would be a bit sporadic.

    Ballast Resistor?

During my rewire, I am trying to decide upon using the current ballast resistor from mallory (The ugly white one) or going with a ballast resistor wire. I am a little unsure of which to go with and which would do a better job of dropping voltage to the coil. My charging system already puts out...

    Jeep cj5 won't fire

Well, there is more than one reason for no spark. Have you tested voltage at the coil? No idea where you live, but here in Colorado the rats love to make little homes in your engine compartment and wires is there bedding of choice. I would make sure your getting voltage at the coil before buying...

97 Jeep Wrangler - Stalling out, while on highway. Now Dead.

Well it's a ignition control module. What type distributor do you have OEM? What year is your Jeep?

97 Jeep Wrangler - Stalling out, while on highway. Now Dead.

That's an ignition module problem if I ever heard of one. Typically modules will get hot and and start failing. They sometimes fail slowly killing you on the side of the road only to start a while later once they cool off. Sometimes they just go zap and they are dead. Anyhow, something to check.
