    Jeep Rubicon's

I upgraded last October from my TJ Sport to an 05 Rubicon and love it. It was geared a bit low at first, but a 4inch lift and 33s fixed it. Personally, I dislike the look and snow performance of 33 12.5s, so I went with 285 75 r16s which are basically similary to a 33 10.5 but are much easier...

    puzzled by new noise

I agree, probably the u-joints. When you put it in 4 hi are you driving at highway speed like when in 2 hi? That may be why it seems to go away, that is if you're in 4 hi but driving in slow speed. If you're going to do U joints, etc, you may want to ask about adding a CV driveshaft if you're...

Body Armor rear bumper + class III hitch

Does anyone have a Body Armor rear bumper? Can you comment on it. Also, I'm wondering if any of you have this swing away tire carrier and also have a class 3 receiver hitch mounted at the same time.

    alignment help

Also, there's a track bar on the back axle. Some companies make a track bar relocation bracket which may help. Or, you need a longer/adjustable track bar there too. It's always something, isn't it?!

    alignment help

Here's your problem. When you put more distance between the frame and the axle, it changes the angle of the track bar. That's what's pulling your axle to the side. You need to either A) get a longer or adjustable track bar (goes from one side of the axle to the oposite side of the vehicle on...

    Wondering

I've never seen green springs on any wrangler, even a green one. I'd bet those are some sort of aftermarket spring? however, I agree that the shocks are likely too short.

    Roll cage questions

Rule number 3 for building a bullet proof jeep is to replace ALL torx fasteners! If you can take them to a hardware store and find something else to replace them with, like a bolt, you'd be saving yourself future headaches:)

    VIAIR any good?

Any opinions on the VIAIR setup? Is there any reason a guy needs a tank, or is a $150 compressor enough. Should I spend the extra $100 and get the complete setup with tank and guage?

    4wdHardware VS 4WheelParts

WTF?, the 4WDHardware and 4WheelParts catalogs this spring are exactly the same, except for covers. Are these two companies one and the same?

    New skyjacker 4" short arm

I just installed a new skyjacker 4" short arm in my 05 Wrangler. There were a few tricks I wish I'd known before I started. If anyone is looking at this kit or a similar one, let me know and I could offer some advice. Thought I'd post this here so it would be in the archives.

    Am I doing it right???

If it sounds like you're reving too high, then you probably are. If your's is a 4.0 inline 6, it's a high torque, low rpm engine. Most of it's power comes from a lower power curve, as opposed to a small cylinder, high reving 4 cylinder engine like in a small import sports car or sport bike...

    4' or 6"

Wow, I just found a great illustration of CV joint at: Constant-velocity joint - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia if you're wondering exactly what the difference is. Would it be a waste of money to install the T case lowering kit as well as upgrading the drive shaft to a CV type end? Why do...

    4' or 6"

Currupt, I love your dad's rubi and that's exactly what I want to do with mine. Derek, I have an 05 and have been doing research as well. Eventually, I'm going to do it big, however, it's my daily driver as well. I'm going to do a 4" short arm with 33x10.5s on aluminum wheels (less rolling...

    12K winch= bent frame?

Thanks Robert for turning me onto this forum; I've been so grateful for all the advice. I'm on my second TJ now and am really trying to do it right! Question: MM PE8,000 for $380 (4wheelonline) VS MM SE12,000 for $540 (ultimate truck and auto) For an extra $160 and a mere 3-4 pounds the 12...

    Highlifting on an ARB bumper

I just put an ARB bull bar on my TJ and realize now that I can't lift the front with my highlift jack because there's no flat spot on the bottom of the ARB. Anyone have a trick?

    YOUR dream rubicon

Is it possible to seal or waterproof those ICUs? How do you take a normal wiring harness and prep it for fording rivers?

    YOUR dream rubicon

Another thought if money wasn't an object: The coil sprung TJ is pretty hard to beat. It could, theoretically be stripped of electronics etc and refitted with CJ wiring harness etc couldn't it. I think that 4.0 has been around for quite a while. What about AEV's deisel conversion for...

    YOUR dream rubicon

In all honesty, you're probably right. I spent some time in Africa 2 years ago and there were definately no Jeeps. There were landrovers and toyotas, and parts a plenty. A good tight 1980's 4cylinder toyota pickup with mild lift and Gooser's list would be a good start. I'd have to disagree...
