    JK Info Please

Howdy, While the reincarnation of my '79 CJ5 goes on (labor of love) I am thinking of trading my '05 GMC Yukon. I have always liked the new JKs but I know very little about them. I will be buying one used, can't afford the new ones. I would like to get a little feedback from someone who isn't...

    Need TFI Help

Changed the ignition to TFI in our 79 CJ5 when we put on the MC2500 carb two years ago. Has been working out real good until now. Gassed up the other day and when I restarted the engine it ran for a minute and died. Will not restart. Did all the usual troubleshooting and can't solve the problem...

    4.2 L I-6 Re-man

Under the heading of "Gee, I didn't see that one coming".... I was going to rebuild the 4.2L in my '79 CJ 5 this winter. Meant it to be a learning experience for me and my youngest son. The Jeep will be his some day anyway. Then I had a major heart attack last week and things got a little...

    Camo Jeep Wrap

As my user name implies, I am a signguy. I have applied materials similar to this and Rubiconhd is correct; ya gotta get it clean. Instead of rapid-tac I have used a solution of dish soap and water for application fluid. Very little soap and lots of water please, you just want to make it...

    CJ steering problem....HELP!!!

OK, Here’s what we did so far; replaced all the joints in the steering linkage, replaced the U-joint in the steering column and tightened all the bolts. New power steering box (the sector was bad). Dialed in 3/16” more toe in than specs call for, this helped the nibbling problem on my old Land...

Hey Weylyn, Just thought I'd say howdy. I noticed in one of your posts you drive an old CJ, live in Missouri, and drive truck for a living. I drive a '79 CJ5, live in Gravois Mills MO, and been driving truck since 1972. I drive for P&S out of Pilot Grove and been 4 wheelin' since I was a kid...

    CJ steering problem....HELP!!!

OK, 1979 CJ5 has steering problem that is making me berserk and my mechanic run and hide when he sees me coming. The Jeep goes straight down the road no problem, but when any steering correction is needed it “darts” so quickly it is a little scary. Great fun when making a sweeping turn at...

    What oil to use?

The additional zinc in the Rotella T-6 Synthetic is the reason I use it on all my old engines. It is the missing ingredient in the newer motor oils. Do not use it on late model engines or an engine that leaks. I have also used this oil on a stationary diesel engine. I doubled my change interval...
