Good running motor when pulled. A tree fell on the cherokee so I parted it. I also have the 5 speed that when with it. the wiring harness is destroyed as i was planning on just building a stroker carb powered motor when i pulled it but i'm trying to make room (and money) for some projects. it...
Sounds good to me! Glad to know its a solid trans.. I was worried it fell in line with some other chrysler mid 90s transaxles for quality. I think maybe i'll lay off the smokey burnouts until i have a spare sitting in my garage ready to go (-=
I have an auto trans in my 96 4.0 (i got the jeep after a motorcycle accident with a deer so i had to get auto at the time) and after maybe a few too many hard hits i can tell its starting to go. Is there any mild performance stuff for these or a easy swap to a stronger auto transmission? i...
I know i have a leak in my exaust manifold so i was looking the the shorty headers that fit right in, no other mods. what kind of improvement is there from them? or is it not worth the cost unless you go with full header?
This is probably a sin to say here, but have to keep this jeep looking nice. Its the only car i own that my girl isn't ashamed of so it keeps my AMCs under her radar a little. Most of the mods at this point on the jeep will be strickly performance mods that she won't notice unless i hit the gas...
Thanks.. I live in Barree.. about 7 miles west of the town of huntingdon and then 3 miles past alexandria. Middle of no where really (I live on a church camp property)
Has anyone had thier clutch fan pulley fail on them? my 96 xj only has 80k miles and the pully siezed and pushed out fromt the bearings... The part from Jeep cost near $300 and I'm feeling lazy about going to a junk yard for a part that might do the same thing. would switching to an electric fan...
i did think about that. Whenever i drive a manual reguardless of whether or not i park in gear the ebrake is always on so i figured it would only lurch forward rather and stall. Or do those remote starters keep cranking till the thing starts? Never messed with one (never owned a car newer than...
is the clutch enguagement for start an electronic sensor or is it mechanical? if its just an electric switch you could bipass it. so long as the jeep was in netural electric start would be the same... still its a good chunk of work to switch styles of transmissions
Only reason i was looking at the wrangler stuff was thats all the 4wd book lists. The upgrades you listed are exactaly what i was looking at doing pretty much. Thanks for the link. I also was thinking of changing the axle ratios.. do you know what they were stock? is my jeep (96) a dana 30 front...
ok, good to know.. so the fuel electronic systems tend to match up with the 95 older wranglers right? Did they change the heads in 97 or was 91 the only real major head change?
Or should i stop trying to comare granny smiths with red delicious?
I just am noticing when i look through 4wd.com stuff it goes from XX-95 wrangler and then from 97-XX. I didn't know how to look for stuff for the 96 (looking at exaust at the moment but it was for air intakes as well) I know there are going to be differences in the wrangler and cherokee but i...
I just picked up a 1996 cherokee country edition that seems pretty nice. Of course i'm interested in bringing out some extra power but it seems this is an odd year for engine stuff. I would guess it falls in the earlier engine family as 97 was the big change for the cherokee but the catologes of...
