My new coil pack did that. It was arcing out the insulator and the only way I found out was Turning the lights out from under my carport and I seen it arcing. I just took the boot insulator off, stretched the spring a little and it solved my problem. Hope something simple like that for you...
When you let it sit are you letting it idle while sitting. Because it might be that while your not on the throttle its building fuel pressure at the fuel rail and when you give it throttle the fuel pump or filter is not keeping up with the amount of fuel to the rail if that makes any sense which...
Also check the fuel filter to make sure its not plugging. And maybe check to see what kind of fuel pressure your getting. I think that model is supposed to get around 31 lbs at idle. Also could be your fuel regulator.

Check the spark plugs. Do you have a code its throwing off. Maybe out of timing. Mifiring. Spark plug wires bad.

Got a code PO443 evaporator emission control system purge. Changed the purge valve and did a smoke test to tank and through intake and found one little leak. Reset the computer and still get the same code. Inspection is due next month and need to resolve this issue. Any thoughts!!

Pull up a wiring diagram on year of his jeep if you haven't done so already. Looks like coming off the PCM there's a wire that goes to the brake switch and a wire that comes off the brake switch that ties into the fuel pump relay and the automatic fuel pump shut down relay. Might be some type...
