So I have a stock bumper on my 99 TJ and getting ready to install brackets for the tow bar. It says to remove two bottom bolts well I see or feel no bolts. Does anyone know the size or my fear they are broken off.
4 wheel drive hadrware is good for free shiping if they have a store in the area. Just order pay and then pick it up at the srore no freight. Prices seem to be the same as others on line
Just ask for a meeting with the district service manager when he visits the dealership the next time. If he does not want to mess with it he will give the OK to fix the problem. At least you can talk to someone who works for the factory.
When it gets down to it compare the resale value the cost of parts and the saftey between the two. I can take a pinto weld it to a truck frame and call it a pinto. Jeep is built for off road and parts available new and used at a good price. They have a great resale value even when old and tired...
Well got them off with a bit of heat and some PB Blaster that stuff is great. Lesson learned buy good too Thanks for all the goodls and a big breaker bar if you want to work on a jeep. thanks for all the good advise.
One Out before the torx snapped but it was a cheap one. Have a real craftsman 1/2 bit on the way. Someday someone will have to tell me the advantage of torx head bolts. It is not the greatest idea when they are torqued to 80 lbs or more.
Also if you have a low charged battery you can have this problem. I had a bad battery and after jumping it would not idle unless I had my foot on the gas. New battery and no more idle problems go figure.
Ok the tow hooks on my TJ front bumper are T55 what is the best way to break the bolt lose? Used PB Blaster and they are not moving afraid to stip out the T55 bolt.
