I put a Superior one piece in my CJ a few years back. It was well worth the 300 bucks, and it wasn't too difficult to install. Just remember to have the bering retainer rings pressed on at a shop if you don't have the press at home. I ruined two sets of berings and rings trying to be cheap...

RE: clocking dana 300 I did that several years ago with my 78 CJ5 - it was sure a chore. I just used a bunch of primer and spray paint. So far, it's been holding up fine. I had a few rust spots around some seams, so I used POR-15. That stuff is still rock hard. I used that dupli-color pickup...

I have a 78 CJ with a two barrel - Just like Far Right suggested, I got it at autozone. It was a bit steep -about 24 bucks, but they still should have one. Just make sure you copy the numbers down that should be on a tag somewhere on the carb. - good luck

Taking it down to metal would be a crap-load of work - when you go to gently skuff the surface, be careful not to gouge the old paint. I got too excited with the angle grinder and a wire brush were there was good, old paint; now it shows in the new paint. Maybe there is some chemical that...

NEW Goodyear 225/75R/15's (5 of them) I vasilated over the same thing for a long time, and then finally went with steel. Over all, it's just more versitle - and if you get a dent you can always pull or pound it out or you can weld it. The only problem is the stinkin rust that developes...
