    Manual Choke and Fuel Pump

I have two questions. Any idea on where I can get a manual choke for a MC2100 carb? And which mechanical fuel pump should I get, front facing ports or rear? It is for an 89 YJ 4.2 automatic. The PO installed and electric fuel pump and removed the mechanical so I'm not sure which way the...

    89 YJ What To Do?

Nope, no kill switch. Which brings up another thought. Do you guys run the stock mechanical pump or do most people switch to an electric pump? Looking at the trail of the work that has been done on the jeep it seems that the PO had fuel problems. Based on where the pump has been located I...

    89 YJ What To Do?

I think you guys are giving me the motivation that I needed. The body could use paint as the original Islander yellow is faded but is otherwise solid. The drivetrain seems good. The Jeep will be needing a new top, some top hardware, tires, and maybe shocks within the year. I'll check...

    89 YJ What To Do?

My son has an 89 YJ that is pretty basic. We changed the carb to a MC2100 and have done some other things. Generally speaking the Jeep has done what I wanted it to do in teaching my son how to trouble shoot and work on his car. The question that we face now is should we fix up the Jeep or...

    1989 YJ Ignition

I'm working on an '89 YJ with the 4.2L automatic. The carb has been converted to the MC2100 and the nutter bypass has been done. The PO or PPO installed an old Jacobs Ignition Milage Master box and coil. We have been having problems with the jeep cutting out when hot. No sign of a fuel...

    89 Islander Lift

Thanks for the answers. The Jeep is setup with a MC2100 so only a couple of vacuum lines and it runs pretty well. Will the TJ style flares let him put a little larger tire on when the time comes? The flares on it are pretty sad and could stand to be replaced, two birds one stone?

    89 Islander Lift

My son has an 89 Islander and is thinking about lifting it a couple of inches. The budget is tight and the jeep is only driven on the road. Any words of advice?

    '89 Wrangler YJ Serpentine Belt

The '89 4.2L with AC seems to have an odd layout as compared to any repair manual I have looked at. The tension is supposed to be adjusted from the alternator but it's not very effective. It just required more brute strength then I wanted to apply at first. It's all done now, no more leaking...

    '89 Wrangler YJ Serpentine Belt

Hi Folks, I have an '89 Wrangler that needs a new power steering pump. How do I release the tension on the serpentine belt? Thanks, Bill

    1989 YJ Engine Cutting Out

The Nutter Bypass did the trick! The bypass has made a really big difference in how it runs and my 16 year old son is now all smiles again. So the Jeep is running again (for now...don't want to jinx it) and my son is hooked on working on his Jeep. All in all a good evening. Thanks for the help!

    1989 YJ Engine Cutting Out

Recently purchased a 1989 Wrangler project for my son and I to work on. It has the 4.2L engine, automatic transmission, & 2bb carb. It ran fine for the first couple of drives but now it starts cutting out when in gear. We have replaced plugs, wires, dist. cap, rotor, air filter, and fuel filter...

    Advice for first Jeep

Hi All. My son will soon turn 16 and has developed the fever for a Jeep. He has his eye on a 1989 Jeep with over 150K miles. We have only looked at the outsdie as the owner was not around. Needless to say his budget is limited. I am very comfotable working on cars and most anything...
