Try removing the bleeder entirely, just in case it's clogged in any way.

My wife says use duct tape. I think you mean this part (heater control panel): Seriously, I'd guess a spring broke behind the panel so it's flopping back to cold. You could monkey with it, or replace it with a new one. I'm finding the plastic gets brittle over the years and the spring perch...

I'm a big fan of synthetic oils. Personally, I use Amsoil in all my vehicles.

On the bellhousing, drivers side, follow the hose down from the master. You should find the bleeder sticking out. On mine, it's accessible, but I've been told there are some years that don't stick out and are a real bear to get to.

+1 for regular oil changes. I run synthetic because I have observed slightly better mileage (I record every fill up and mileage, a freak, i know) and that the engine runs a little cooler. Change the oil regularly is the most important concept.

I'll second that it's a hose from the pvc value to the air filter. Any vacuum hose will do. Originally, it was a molded plastic piece with rubber or soft plastic ends to connect to the nipples.
