Well for all you old school Jeepers... this one is for you .. (I hope)
Can anyone tell me if there is a difference in the motor mounts on an AMC 360 and a Chrysler 360?
I want to take my 304 out and put a 360 in, but I want to know if I can use a newer 360 or if I need to stay with the AMC?

The Chrysler 5.9 liter engine mounting holes on the block is more centered front to back rather than the AMC 360 thats more of a forward mounted brackets. It shouldn't be that difficult to modify.

You will have to stay with the AMC360 if you want it to bolt to your transmission. It's a straight bolt-in so why not keep it KISS simple.

Yeah I kinda want to move up to a 5 speed and I'm having a hard time finding a T-5 out of a CJ... and even if I did I'm not sure if it would match up to my 304

Watch out for the Chrysler 360 - the early ones I think are externally balanced and use a special flywheel. I always felt the 318 was a far superior engine for some reason. Maybe because the old 318s ran so well and the 360s came out right in the middle of the anti-smog revolution. The poor 360s never really had a chance to run well. The 318s were nearly bomb proof. The later SMEC controlled 360s seemed to run OK... Best of luck - John

I would look for a strong 4 speed. The T-5 is supposed to be a pooch, but I haven't had any problems with mine yet.

Someone may have to correct me, but would the NV4500 bolt up to a newer 360? If it could, that is a heavy duty 5 speed.

From 96-98 a BE and BR body dodge ram with a 5.9 gas had the option of the NV3500 and NV4500. 99 and on came in addition to the manual trans. is the NV5600.
